πŸ€πŸ’™ That's a Wrap on WCS Basketball Camp! πŸ’™πŸ€

What an incredible week of learning, growing, and having fun together!

This week, our campers learned the fundamentals of basketball while also discovering what it means to honor God through sports. From teamwork and perseverance to humility and giving our best effort, every drill and game was an opportunity to grow both as athletes and as followers of Christ.

We were proud to honor each camper with a certificate recognizing their hard work and growth throughout the week. It was so fun to see the confidence, skills, and sportsmanship that developed from Monday to Friday!

A huge thank you to Coach Ray, Coach Kruger, and Coach Joy for investing in these studentsβ€”not only teaching the game of basketball, but also modeling Christlike character on and off the court.

πŸ€ And this is just the beginning! We are already looking forward to the WCS basketball season this year. If camp was any indication, it's going to be an exciting season filled with growth, teamwork, and opportunities to glorify God through athletics.

Thank you to all of our campers and families for making this week such a success. Go Lions! πŸ’™πŸ¦

πŸ€β›ΉοΈ We had a great first day of WCS Basketball Camp! β›ΉοΈπŸ€

A big thank you to Coach Ray and Coach Kruger for leading this program. Campers learned the fundamentals of basketball while also discovering that how we play the game matters just as much as how well we play it.

Throughout the morning, our coaches connected sports with biblical truth, reminding students that we can honor God by giving our best, encouraging our teammates, showing humility, and competing with integrity.

It is so much fun watching students learn new skills, build friendships, and grow in confidence both on and off the court.

We're looking forward to another great week together and can't wait for our big scrimmage on Friday! πŸ€πŸ’™

New This Year at WCS: Service Learning

This year, we're excited to introduce Service Learning for our 6th grade students!

At WCS, we believe education is about more than academic excellence alone. We want to help students develop a heart that reflects Christβ€”one that sees a need and is ready and willing to serve.

Mark 10:45 says:

"For even the Son of Man came not to be served, but to serve, and to give His life as a ransom for many."

Throughout the year, our 6th graders will find opportunities to serve both within WCS and throughout our community. Whether they're helping younger students, serving at their local church, volunteering in the community, or caring for those in need, they'll be learning that it is a joy to serve one another.

This is one more way we equip with absolute truth, empower with education, and engage the world!

WCS Summer Devotional

One of the greatest joys of Christian education is partnering with families not just during the school year, but throughout the year. While summer is a wonderful time to rest, travel, and make memories, it is also an opportunity to continue growing in our relationship with Christ.

Throughout the summer, our Bible teacher, Mr. Kruger, will share a short devotional to encourage our WCS families as we seek to keep Jesus at the center of our homes.

We pray these devotionals encourage meaningful conversations and strengthen your family's faith!

From Mr. Kruger -

John 15:4-5 NIV

β€œRemain in me, as I also remain in you. No branch can bear fruit by itself; it must remain in the vine. Neither can you bear fruit unless you remain in me. β€œI am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing.”

So often we think we can do things on our own strength, relying on our own abilities to get us through. But here Jesus reminds us that without Him, we can do nothing with good, eternal impact without Him.

As we slip out of our normal routines for the summer, some may find more time for relaxing and having fun. Others may find themselves in an even busier time than during the school year. Whether we are busier or more free, if we lose this daily time with the Lord, we will find ourselves slipping back into unhealthy, unproductive rhythms and even non-Christ like character…

Regardless of whether your summer has been chill or crazy, we must continue to commit as a community to daily connection with Jesus. He is our strength, our comfort, and our helper. Commit to the rest of the summer as a family to spending time reading the Bible, praying, and worshipping together, staying connected with other believers, family, and friends to encourage each other as we pursue Jesus together.

Feel free to discuss these as a family or simply use them for yourself for self-reflection:

How has your summer been going so far? Is it busier than you thought it would be? More relaxed?

What can you do to carve out a dedicated time to seek Jesus every day? When do you have the most free time? What is something you do every day that you could add some time with Jesus before or after to get more time with Him?

Where have you been relying on your own strength when you need God to refresh you, help you, and begin relying on His strength instead? Keep in mind Jesus’ humble and loving invitation in Matthew 11:28-30.

β€œCome to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”

What are you excited for God to move in the rest of the summer?

What things has God given for you to look forward to? Comment below what your family talks about!
