The Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA) and its Network of ELCA Colleges and Universities are opening the Rossing Scholarships in Physics for the 2026-2027 academic year! Outstanding physics students can apply for competitive scholarships of up to $10,000.

𝐄𝐥𝐢𝐠𝐢𝐛𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐲:
• You must be a current sophomore or junior at an ELCA or ELCIC-related college.
• You must be a declared physics major who has completed at least one physics course.
• Past sophomore winners are encouraged to reapply!

𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐘𝐨𝐮 𝐍𝐞𝐞𝐝:
• A personal letter detailing your interest in physics, future plans, expected graduation, and contact info.
• Two letters of recommendation (at least one from a physics professor).
• An official transcript including grades through December 2025.

Established by Gary Dolphin, the renowned "Voice of the Hawkeyes," this scholarship supports the next generation of media professionals with awards totaling up to $2,500 for current and prospective college students.

𝐊𝐞𝐲 𝐃𝐞𝐭𝐚𝐢𝐥𝐬:
• Four scholarships are available annually (two for current college students, two for high school seniors)
• $2,500 scholarship awards
• Additional internship stipends of $1,000-$2,500 for current college students
• Eligibility: Students residing in Iowa or within 90 miles of Dubuque in Wisconsin or Illinois
• Requirements: 3.0 GPA minimum, 500-word essay, and 60-second video. 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐉𝐚𝐦𝐞𝐬 𝐖. 𝐒𝐦𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐒𝐜𝐡𝐨𝐥𝐚𝐫𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐩 𝐅𝐮𝐧𝐝 was established in February 2001 and consists of committee members representing various churches. Many knew Jimmy as a mentor, friend, percussionist and private drum instructor. He participated in various community activities (churches, ensembles, Ebony Fashion Fair-Des Moines and Waterloo) and his music was instrumental throughout the State of Iowa.

To honor Jimmy’s love for music and his commitment to the education of youth, a $500 scholarship will be awarded to graduating high school seniors or college undergraduates to assist in furthering their education at an accredited college, community college, junior college or university.

𝐊𝐚𝐢𝐥𝐞𝐞 𝐌𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐬 𝐅𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐝𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐒𝐜𝐡𝐨𝐥𝐚𝐫𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐩 awards funds to students across the United States each year. The scholarship awards vary in range but could be up to $20,000. These scholarships must be used at any 2-year or 4-year accredited college or university. All applicants must show academic achievement and help to spread seat belt safety awareness in their community.
