Pictured: Mrs. Elsamiller's third grade class planting their glove gardens.
April and May are great months to plant fields and gardens. Bremer County AITC Coordinator Sue Cook visited third grade classes at North Ridge Elementary in Waverly with an activity called "Garden in a Glove".
Each student filled the fingers of food service gloves with seeds - sunflower, corn, soybeans, cucumber, and pumpkin.
Then, they put cotton balls on top and watered the gloves. Cotton balls replace soil and can be planted in the ground with the germinated seeds.
