🗓️ Senior Adult Lunch & Learn 🍂

We invite you to join us for our monthly Senior Adult Lunch on Tuesday, October 27th! This open, "lunch and learn" style event is perfect for members and guests, especially those over the age of 65.

💡 This Month's Topic:
We are welcoming a guest speaker from Cedar Valley Hospice, who will share vital information about dementia care. They will offer guidance and support for both individuals diagnosed and those caring for loved ones.

⏰ Schedule & Details:
• 10:30 AM: Program begins in the church Narthex (Please enter through Door 4).
• Following the presentation: A delicious lunch will be served.
• Note: A free-will offering will be collected during lunch.

Worship: 20th Sunday after Pentecost

In Isaiah we are given a vision of the great feast to come, when God will wipe away death forever. In Jesus’ parable about a great banquet, those invited do not come, so the invitation is extended to others. In our liturgy God spreads a table before us. Even amid anxiety and hardship we rejoice in the peace of God which surpasses all understanding. With great joy we feast at the table of the Lord, and we go forth to share the wonderful invitation with others hungering and thirsting for the abundant life of God.

📖Texts: Isaiah 25:1-9, Psalm 23, and Matthew 22:1-14.

Faith Formation Recap (Week of October 7)

It was another week full of activities! Sunday the 7th brought another week of family fellowship. Also during that time some of our 3rd graders and their families joined Deb for the first of their Bible 101 Milestone learning events. They received a new Bible and starting learning how to dig into it, find things and even got a Bible reading plan.

Wednesday was another fun filled day at Saints Alive. Our preschool students talked about the 10 Commandments while our older students had a fun day playing Bingo (back to a lesson next week!). It was a joy to hear our children's choirs rehearsing and we enjoyed a delicious dinner of walking tacos!

Confirmation students learned about some other religions this week and how they compare to Christianity and Lutheranism. Small groups discussed and worked on their plans as they start leading our worship services next week. Next week is also our annual Food Scavenger Hunt evening! High School students gathered for some much needed fellowship, conversation and prayer as they supported each other. The week ended with a coffee and connection event with a few 7th and 8th grade students at Starbucks.

Parish Life is looking for some Fellowship Hosts to join the Coffee Fellowship Hour team. They are needed to serve and clean up coffee and snacks (which are provided by others) from 10 a.m.-10:55 a.m. and to clean up afterwards. This takes about 2 hours, one Sunday a month. Grab a friend or family member and join their host team. Training is available. Please contact Ron Zelle in the office if interested.

❄️ Waverly-Shell Rock area United Way Warm Wishes provides new coats and other winter gear to make sure our local kids stay warm. We believe that every child who needs a winter coat should have one! We anticipate serving approximately 250 kids in Bremer County and Shell Rock and we need your help.

🏂New winter hats, gloves, coats, and snow pants for kids can be dropped off at St. Paul’s in the narthex through October 16.
