Yesterday WSTEM received a gift that could one day make all the difference. 🫀🫶🏼

The Kai Lermer Memorial Fund was established in 2019 in memory of Kai Lermer, a Waukesha North student-athlete who tragically collapsed from sudden cardiac arrest and died at just 16 years old from an undiagnosed rare heart condition.

Because of Kai’s story, his family and supporters have made it their mission to help equip schools and communities with lifesaving AEDs.

We are honored to be one of the schools benefiting from that mission. Thank you to the Kai Lermer Memorial Fund for helping make WSTEM a safer place for our students, staff, and community. ❤️

🦎 Meet WSTEM’s newest faculty member - Peanut!

Our 6/7 classroom is about to welcome a scaly new friend! We’re bringing a bearded dragon into the classroom to make science come alive—learning about adaptations, ecosystems, empathy, teamwork, and responsible pet care along the way. 🔬🌱

But every good teaching assistant needs the right workspace! We’re raising funds for a proper terrarium, heating + UVB lighting, and other habitat essentials to keep our newest member of the WSTEM family healthy and happy.

🧪 Did you know that Spooky Lab Day at WSTEM is completely led by parents? It’s an amazing way to get to know our community and support kids’ love for learning! 🧡 If you’re able, join us for a parent planning meeting (or two or three). Our first two will be this Friday, 9/18 and next Friday, 9/25. We’ll meet at Ally’s Powerhouse Cafe from 8:30-9:30 AM.

👀 Not able to attend a meeting? Watch for an email with other ways to get involved! No experience necessary!

✍🏻 Mark your calendar! Spooky Day will take place at WSTEM on Friday, Oct. 30th from 8-Noon(ish).

🎃 What is Spooky Lab Day?
A scientific celebration day with a hint of Halloween! Students rotate through several spooky STEM-based, hands-on experiments in their multi-age engineering classes. This day is completely led by parent volunteers and is a favorite WSTEM educational tradition. Bonus- volunteers dress up in costume just for fun!
