Fundraising is underway for our annual Firefly Flash Fundraiser & Fun Run!

Lots of prizes are still waiting for those who contribute! Currently Team Chapeyama is in the lead for an Ice Cream Party and Team Marinan is in the lead for a Donut Party! Help your child's class pull into the lead!

This event would not be possible without the help of VOLUNTEERS! We are in need of many more volunteers!

We are looking for someone to help run our Facebook account. Role would involve posts to remind families of upcoming events, event recaps and monitoring messages. All this can be done from your home, when it fits into your schedule!

Open House + Curriculum Night is Thursday, 4-6PM! 🍎
• Meet your child’s teacher and explore the classroom
• Drop off school supplies
• Turn in medications and health forms

A quick reminder: this is not a formal conference time. If you’d like a more in-depth conversation with your child’s teacher, please reach out to them directly to schedule a meeting.

A quick back-to-school reminder: Please complete your student’s dismissal plan before the first day of school.

Having accurate dismissal information ensures staff safely and efficiently get every child home each day.

As you make your plans, please also keep in mind that there will not be a crossing guard assigned to the Underwood Safe Route to School this year so families may want to review walking and biking routes with their students ahead of the first day.

Please fill out your student's after school pick-up plan. This plan will be effective for the 2026-2027 school year. Please choose ONE answer for your primary pick-up plan with your student Each student must have a dismissal plan on file.

As we get ready for another great year, we’re taking a look back at some of the memories that made last year so special! From Firefly Flash and our monthly family nights to High Interest Day, Teacher Appreciation Week and plenty of new Discovery Lab activities, none of it would have been possible without our incredible volunteers.

Thank you to every family member, teacher, staff member and volunteer who gave their time, ideas and energy to help make it all happen!

We’re so grateful for everything our Underwood community accomplished together last year — and we can’t wait to see what’s ahead for the 2026–27 school year. Here’s to another great year, Fireflies!

❗Crossing Guard Update for Underwood Families❗The City of Wauwatosa has updated its crossing guard placements for the 2026–27 school year. As part of those changes, the crossing guard previously serving Underwood is being reassigned to Wauwatosa Avenue & Milwaukee Avenue to provide secondary coverage at that location.

As you prepare for the start of the school year, please be aware that there is no longer a crossing guard assigned to Underwood or to the Underwood Safe Routes to School network. Families with students who walk or bike to school should review their planned routes and make any adjustments they feel are appropriate for the upcoming year.

If you have questions or concerns about this change, we encourage you to reach out to the full Wauwatosa Common Council. The alders representing the Underwood school community (Alders Indy Stluka and Robin Brannin) have already expressed concerns regarding the removal of crossing guard coverage and not providing one guard at each elementary school location, so hearing directly from families will help ensure the broader Council understands the community impact.
