It's officially been one week since Wauwatosa Montessori School 'shell-ebrated' four new feathered friends joining its school family! 🐓💜

For the past two years, Montessori students navigated the administrative process firsthand as they advocated to bring the chickens to campus. Students gathered signatures from surrounding neighbors, created slideshows, and presented their proposal for chickens directly to school district leadership.

Now, students will help feed, care for, and protect the chickens year-round. The chickens will help students engage in Montessori principles of observation and practice life skills including responsibility, patience, and team coordination.

We love seeing our students come together to support one another and create spaces where everyone feels welcome. The strong turnout at the Wauwatosa West High School Feminist Student Union meeting is a wonderful example of students working together to make their school a place where every student has the opportunity to belong and be heard. 🥰
A special shoutout to FSU Adviser Karra Esenberg for creating and supporting opportunities for students to connect, learn, grow, and build community!

Parents, siblings, and family members got to see their students' classrooms, test out instruments in the music room, paint in the art room, build with LEGOs in the Discovery Lab, and enjoy tasty pizza and shaved ice on the playground at Roosevelt Elementary School's Meet the Teacher Night on Wednesday. 🥁🎨🍕

We are a MONTH away from our 7th Annual Trunk or Treat & Food Drive Community Event!! This has become a wonderful community tradition, bringing together families from all over Tosa for the past 6 years. Each year the event is made possible through the participation of community members, local organizations and businesses who generously decorate trunks and help create this memorable experience.

This event is run in partnership with the Wauwatosa Police Department and as part of our partnership with Tosa Cares, we encourage those who attend to bring a donation 🥫 for the Tosa Cares Food Pantry. This allows us to pair a fun community event with an opportunity to give back and support local families in need.

It will be Saturday, October 17th, 2026 at 11:00am - 1:30pm
in the Fisher Administration East Parking Lot

We will have:

🍿Popcorn Sale
🎨 Facepaint by Life's a Party- Face Painting
🚚 Foodtrucks

Meet our newest neighbors! 🐔🤩 Wauwatosa Montessori School officially welcomed four chickens to campus last week. After building their coop over the summer, students and staff are stepping into hands-on learning as they share the daily responsibilities of caring for their new feathered friends.
