NOTICE: ALL 3 CAMPUSES OF NEW HORIZONS ACADEMY WILL BE CLOSED ON TUESDAY, OCTOBER 20 TO HONOR MARTY.

As our New Horizons Academy family continues to mourn the loss of our beloved principal, Marty, we would like to share the arrangements for honoring and celebrating his life.

Visitation
Monday, October 19 | 2:00–8:00 PM

Memorial Service
Tuesday, October 20 | 11:00 AM
A meal will follow the service.

We will be closing school on Tuesday, October 20 for our NHA, NHS and CC campuses so that our staff, students, and families have the opportunity to attend Marty's memorial service, surround his family with love, and come together as a school community to celebrate a truly remarkable man.

A Few Helpful Details for Families:

❤️ A cry room will be available during the service, with audio provided, for families who may need a quieter space.

❤️ Sensory accommodations can be made for those who need them. Please reach out to us in advance so we can communicate those needs to the family.

❤️ A bagpipe processional will take place at the conclusion of the service. Bagpipes can be quite loud, so we encourage families to consider bringing headphones for children or anyone who may be sensitive to loud noises.

Marty was so much more than a principal. He was a friend, a mentor, an advocate, and a shining example of love and service. His impact on our students, families, staff, and community is immeasurable, and his legacy will forever be woven into the heart of New Horizons Academy.

Though our hearts are heavy, we rejoice in knowing that Marty is now in the arms of Jesus, free from pain and surrounded by everlasting love.

Please continue to keep his family and all who loved him in your thoughts and prayers.

Well done, good and faithful servant. Until we meet again, Marty.

A HUGE THANK YOU to the Toledo-Sylvania Elks Lodge #53!

Our CE students and outside clients have been having an absolute BLAST using our new BlazePods during their CE sessions! 🔵🟢🔴🟡

If you haven't heard of BlazePods, they're an innovative, wireless, interactive light-training system designed to improve reaction time, agility, coordination, and the connection between the brain and body. Through a variety of fun, engaging activities, our students and clients are challenged to think quickly, move with purpose, and build important skills—all while having FUN!

These BlazePods have quickly become a favorite addition to our CE program, bringing excitement, motivation, and a little friendly competition to each session!

None of this would have been possible without the incredible generosity of the Toledo-Sylvania Elks Lodge #53! Their financial support made it possible for us to purchase this amazing equipment and provide new opportunities for our students and clients to learn, grow, and succeed.

Great to see the Fulton County Senior Center feature Roger as this month’s Senior Spotlight in their October newsletter. Roger's woodworking skills are absolutely amazing! We have been so blessed by his amazing craftsmanship over the years, building adaptive furniture and equipment for our staff, students and clients at Sara's Garden and New Horizons Academy. Congratulations Roger and thanks so much for all that you have done for us!

Five years ago, in the midst of the uncertainty and challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic, Special Grounds Coffee Co. was born out of necessity, hope, and a vision for the future. As vocational placements became increasingly difficult to secure for students at New Horizons Academy, our team saw an opportunity to create something meaningful right here at home. What began as a way to provide valuable job training has grown into a thriving coffee shop that has become an important part of our community while transforming the lives of the students we serve.

Thank you to the Ohio Elks Cerebral Palsy (CP) Fund and the Toledo-Sylvania Elks Lodge #53 for donating close to $12,000 for a specialized, vocational engraving tool program. This engraving tool will be used to improve the vocational skills and independence of New Horizons Academy’s (NHA) middle school and high school special needs students with CP and other neurological and neuromuscular disorders. The engraving equipment will help to promote vocational development and training to expand career and vocational prospects and promote greater independence and future financial stability. This equipment is very important in meeting the functional, therapeutic, technical, and vocational needs of NHA’s special needs students and young adults.
