The approach is reverse engineered. Design the ideal final restoration, then work backward through the tissue, the bone, and the graft requirements. Surgical placement is a step inside that plan. A patient is asking for a tooth that functions and looks right. That prosthetic endpoint sets the plan, and the hard and soft tissue get built to support it. Our mentors teach doctors to work in this order.
