6/6/2026: Wausau East-on & The Big Slugger Dog

After I received my "Big Slugger Hot Dog" at the Wausau East baseball tournament, a young man came running up and asked if I was going to review this hot dog. I recognized Easton from Little League games that I umpire. He couldn't stop smiling when we talked about hot dogs.

I've got to tell you... nothing makes me happier than talking baseball and hot dogs with our youth!

Easton told me that his favorite hot dog of all time is the "Big Slugger" being served at Wausau East, and his favorite topping is ketchup. Easton loves playing baseball and plays just about every position on the baseball field. Okay Easton, this hot dog review is for YOU:

The Wausau East baseball tournament did not disappoint! They offered two different types of all beef hot dogs: the Lil' Slugger and the Big Slugger. TWO! Who does that?! Both were excellent, however, I'm going to review the "Big Slugger"!

The big slugger is a MASSIVE hot dog! The bun to meat ratio is everything you'd expect... and more! There's no need to eat a second supper after you leave the park because this enormous frank is hearty enough to satisfy the appetite of your cleanup hitter! The size isn't the only part of this hot dog that's impressive. The flavor, texture, and bite are all superlative!

The fine people at Wausau East Baseball grilled the all-beef hot dogs and served them on soft, bakery-fresh buns. They wrapped the hot dogs and buns in foil and kept them warm in a roasting pan. As fast as these hot dogs were selling, they didn't sit for long! This hot dog is definitely an out of the park home run!

Wausau schools combine for eight medals at WIAA State Track & Field Championships - Wausau Pilot & Review Wausau West's Maci Heise placed second in the Division 1 girls 300-meter hurdlesat the 2026 WIAA State Track & Field Championships at the University

The Lumberjacks are back in action at 1:00 PM in the Wausau East Youth Baseball Tournament Championship. One more game, one more opportunity.
