It may be summer, but our students are working hard! Did you know that we partner with Humane Society of Marathon County to help with spay/neuter procedures and dental cleanings?

Today we had a sweet cat in for what we thought was going to be a routine dental cleaning. In the "before" photo, you can visually see a tooth that has a gum loss around it and it is more exposed than the surrounding teeth. We knew it had to come out, however patients recieve dental radiographs as part of the procedure. We shared that dental radiograph here with you. The blue outlines on the photo are portions of the teeth that are missing and broken off.

The other side of the mouth was also radiographed and two more teeth needed to be removed due to infection around the tooth. He will be on a soft food diet for a few weeks and will be feeling much better!

A few of our club members put together an "Introduction to Veterinary Technican" camp for high school students and were able to teach what they love! This allows education and advocation for our profession while allowing students to work on leadership skills.

One vet tech student helping lead the camp said the job is much more than playing with animals.

Yesterday 4 students, our program veterinarian and the club advisor set out on a mission to Forest County Humane Society for the spring vaccine and microchipping clinic.

These vaccines and microchips are offered at no charge to the community through grants and any donations made during this event go back to the humane society.

We are excited to share that we saw 127 animals yesterday and along side of the bake sale, were able to help raise $1,523 🎉

We’re grateful for our partnership with Applewood Lane Alpacas as part of our Livestock Medicine course! 🦙

Students had a hands-on learning experience working with “Sundrops Squirt,” the farm’s charming public relations alpaca, collecting f***l samples for clinical pathology, and even spending time with Radar, the resident dog.

Beyond being a fantastic teaching partner, Applewood Lane Alpacas also welcomes the public for visits and offers a variety of high-quality alpaca products.

Today we hosted a career fair and were proud to welcome so many fantastic industry partners for our students to connect with and learn from.

One of the most meaningful moments was seeing one of our graduates return—this time representing her clinic and engaging with our current students. Moments like these truly highlight the impact of our community and the journeys our students take beyond the classroom.
