Start your week with purpose and a plan.

I’m introducing FREE Sunday Night Sports Performance Mentoring Sessions for baseball and softball athletes and their parents starting Sunday, October 25th.

These recurring 15–20-minute Zoom sessions are an opportunity to experience my coaching, learn something useful, and see how my private weekly mentoring program could support your athlete’s growth, on and off the field.

Each recurring Sunday evening, we’ll explore a different topic, from recognizing patterns and preparing for pressure to building routines, following through, and reflecting on progress.

One question. One practical strategy. One action to practice during the week.

My approach combines 30+ years of coaching, former college head coach, adjunct instructor, associate scout and 16 years in special education. I focus on understanding the individual, breaking skills into manageable steps, and helping athletes apply what they learn.

You’ll also learn how private mentoring connects individualized instruction with ongoing conversations, accountability, and parent communication throughout the month.

Join any week, and see whether this approach fits your athlete. There’s no obligation to enroll.

I’m working to be the person I needed in high school, someone who listens, helps build a plan, and supports the next step.

Another off-season is here. They say, “No one is coming to save you.” I see it differently. You still have to do the work, but you don’t have to figure it all out alone.

I wanted to introduce my LIMITED Roster Mentoring Program and share how I can support your athlete’s growth.

The purpose is to help athletes better understand themselves, prepare with intention, and take ownership of their development. Depending on their needs, we may focus on performance preparation, confidence, focus, routines, responding to challenges, or hitting development.

I bring more than 30 years of baseball coaching and private instruction, nine years as a head college baseball coach, professional scouting experience, adjunct professor, and 16 years in special education. As a teacher and coach, I work to understand the individual, break skills into manageable steps, and help students apply what they learn. This program brings those experiences together through specifically designed instruction built around your athlete’s needs, strengths, and goals.

Our work extends throughout the week. Ongoing coaching conversations and contact points help your athlete build a plan, follow through, reflect honestly, and make adjustments.

A typical week includes:

*Sunday - Preparation prompt: Identify a focus and prepare for the week.

*Monday - Individual Zoom session, 15 - 20 minutes: Discuss current needs, teach strategies, and create an actionable plan.

*Tuesday - Independent action: Apply the plan with no scheduled coaching contact.

*Wednesday - Accountability check-in: A brief text, email, or video exchange to review progress and address challenges.

*Thursday - Independent action: Continue practicing and applying the plan with no scheduled coaching contact.

*Friday - Student weekly reflection: Share what worked, what was difficult, and what needs further attention.

*Saturday - Area-of-need work: Complete purposeful practice based on the week’s learning.

We will also have a monthly video check-in with parents to discuss progress, share observations, and keep our support connected.

My goal is for your athlete to gradually become their own best coach, recognizing patterns, making thoughtful decisions, and following through without needing constant reminders. Together, we can help them build habits they can carry into competition, school, and everyday life.

If you’re ready to get started, send me a direct message or give me a call, 563-513-8857. We’ll talk about your athlete’s needs, answer your questions, and schedule their first Zoom session.

Week 6: See It, Hear It, Feel It, Apply It

Sometimes an athlete needs to see a movement demonstrated. Sometimes a simple explanation makes it click. Other times, they need to feel the adjustment themselves.

Our job as coaches is to connect those experiences and give athletes opportunities to put them into action.

That means:

* Show them what the movement looks like.
* Explain what’s happening and why it matters.
* Help them feel the adjustment.
* Give them purposeful repetitions to apply it.
* Ask questions that help them explain what they’ve learned.

Progress shows up when athletes begin noticing their own mistakes, understanding what needs to change, and making adjustments without waiting for us to step in.

Don’t just give athletes the answer. Help them see it, feel it, understand it, and take ownership of it.

Our Fall Defensive Development Sessions are complete. Thank you to everyone who joined me!

Now the work begins. Take the suggestions and strategies you learned and apply them in your unseen moments, the work you do when no one is watching. Keep watering those mental seeds through consistent action.

Coaching Note: If you participated and would like an off-season routine with manageable, purposeful drills to do at home, reach out. I’ll build one for you at no charge as a thank-you for attending this fall.

How many boxers step into a big fight expecting to land a knockout punch without putting in the daily work? It doesn't happen.

Ballplayers, the same applies to you. If you want to be ready for the big dance, you have to spend time learning how to dance. Especially in the fall season. It's not just games.

The footwork. The repetitions. The adjustments. That’s what these practice spaces are for.

You don’t have to master everything today. But you do have to show up, work with purpose, and keep coming back.

Give yourself time to grow, and give that time your effort. Preparation builds confidence you can carry into the game.

A better version of yourself takes time, and a willingness to give up a little comfort today for growth tomorrow.

Tomorrow is our final Fall Defensive Development Session in Sparta. Thank you to the players and families who made time to show up, learn, and put in the work.

Let’s finish strong and keep building habits that last beyond the field.
