What an incredible weekend at the 2026 World Kido Federation / Haminjok Hapkido Association Chicago Fan Premier Seminar featuring Grand Master Steve Seo!

It was a true honor to train alongside fellow martial artists from near and far, learning high-level techniques and the fan form under Grandmaster Seo’s guidance. Getting to explore a new weapon and share that energy with the community made the whole experience unforgettable.

A huge thank you to Master Headen from the Warrior Institute of Chicago for hosting us so graciously!

Grateful for the knowledge, the camaraderie, and the opportunity to grow together. Looking forward to putting everything into practice!

On Tuesday, Grandmaster Konley led a special high belt seminar for our red belts and higher, covering a variety of advanced techniques and high level training.

This seminar was a great opportunity to bring renewed energy to our high belt classes and kick off our new testing cycle strong. Our students worked hard, challenged themselves, and had a great time learning together.

This weekend’s belt graduation had plenty of highlights, but our students showcasing the straight edge sword form stood out in particular. Even some of our youngest students stepped up, learned the form, and demonstrated it with real focus and discipline. At American Dojo we don’t limit our students, we challenge them to rise and discover what they’re capable of.

Belt graduation day is always a good one, and yesterday was no exception!

Every student showed up with enthusiasm and confidence because of the hard work they have put in. It’s great watching the progress that comes from steady training, and especially exciting to see families training together and earning their next belts side by side.

Congratulations to all of our new belt recipients! Keep training hard and working towards your goal of becoming a Black Belt! Thank you to our instructors and families for all of your support behind the scenes.
