TruuJay and I spent some quality time around Waukesha Farmers' Market. Our furry friend named, Simba came and tagged along for the ride. And stopped by a beautiful mural collaboration by artisans Christina Dreyer, Jessica Stahl, Kathy Gengler and Judy Blake!

We walked up and down and paid our respects at Waukesha’s Parade Memorial in Grede Park after the tragedy that transpired on 11/21/2021. The community stepped up along with designer Carmen De La Paz to bring peace to what we may no longer see again. But the sun broke through the partly cloudy day and showed us the meaning behind “Waukesha Strong” 🦋

I couldn’t leave TruuJay riding solo so we made our way over to guitar town in to visit Martha Merrells Books, there were so many friends for TJ to play with and rich history that dated back to 1960 as Martha Merrell herself was from Racine.

There aren’t many bookstores left for the community like this one, avians! I mean how often do you get to see larger than life size guitars in your neighborhood? 🎸

Today was the purrr-fect time for tea and a very happy unbirthday to TruuJay 🫖 Wonderland Bookshop WhAt A wHiMSiCaL atmosphere this bookstore has to offer, it was a special treat to visit at the end of the week

TruuJay and I found a swing to park it, we even went upside down. There’s so many murals in downtown with good messages on them too!

TruuJay and I went to Rockford, Illinois to visit Maze Books yesterday! There were bookshelves taller than trees and popular literature from history and mythology. Have you heard of the Ancient Greek poem, ?

A welcoming bookworm culture is found indoors, TruuJay cannot wait to explore all of downtown 📚

TruuJay and I took a pit stop at today and spotted a mural on the wall with a message that resonates with us!

LEARN A BIT MORE ABOUT TRUUJAY!

Little things about our book’s protagonist that you might relate to - Swipe & find out yourself! ——>

1) TRUUJAY IS UNABLE TO FLY
In a world full of birds, being unable to fly makes Truujay feel a little sad...

However, he is learning to embrace his differences for the better - that being unable to do something doesn’t have to be a negative.

TruuJay just moves through life a little different, and that’s okay. He just does things the TruuJay way!

Plus, his friends love TruuJay for who he is & can always provide a helping wing!

2) TRUUJAY’S PAL IS A CARDINAL NAMED RODGER

Speaking of TruuJay’s friends, his best friend is named Rodger.

Pairing off to the more in-line, composed side of him, Rodger provides an excited side to TruuJay’s life.

Sometimes this can push TruuJay into directions he wouldn’t even think of going in... as you will see in “Ruffled Feathers” soon!

3) TRUUJAY’S LAST NAME IS CORVIDAE
The word “Corvidae” was chosen because it’s the scientific family name for birds in real life such as the crow, magpies, and, of course, the blue jay.
TruuJay is a blue jay!

Keep an eye in the “Ruffled Feathers” book for different species of birds!

4) TRUUJAY IS A PRINCE
Being the only son of the former king of the Highlands, where TruuJay lives, he is next in line for the throne. His father has statues all over that TruuJay sees daily!

For as exciting as this seems, TruuJay struggles with finding his own voice at times. Can he become a hero like his father once was in Highlands?

5) TRUUJAY WEARS AN ACORN COMPASS!
Did you spot the acorn around TruuJay’s neck in the cover?

This is a special gift from his mother, Oracle! It works both as a compass, and a sundial.

Our team met on May 25th to discuss the future of this book. With the new funds from our Kickstarter, our book will continue to be fully funded, and our artists will be paid fairly (and graciously, too)!
