Introducing our June Artist of the Month, Barbara Anderson! While growing up in McFarland, Wisconsin, Barbara recalls spending her childhood at her grandparents’ farm in their many flower gardens. Her passion for the outdoors, gardening, floral designs, and wildlife developed at this very young age and soon became one of the key inspirations in much of her artwork.
Today, her love for the enchanting beauty of nature and our Earth’s extraordinary changing seasons shines through in her vibrant collage artwork.
After studying and majoring in commercial art, Barbara began illustrating prints for sportswear companies in Seattle, Washington, where many of her designs were featured across men’s and women’s sportswear, and surf, skate, and wildlife apparel. Her time there was also a wonderful learning experience, opening her eyes to a world of possibilities in artistic subjects and styles.
In 2006, Barbara joined LANG’s creative team. In addition to working as a graphic designer, she soon began developing art for her Botanical Gardens collection for LANG. Ever since, Barbara’s artwork has become a favorite among LANG’s many collections, appearing on multiple
wall calendars, planners, Christmas cards and other stationery, puzzles and drinkware. Her bright and cheerful artwork showcases a colorful array of flowers with rich hues of blues and yellows, many intricate details of butterflies and floral motifs, and the magnificent beauty that truly captures the essence of a botanical garden. Barbara’s passion for nature remains her strongest influence, and she enjoys creating art for domestic and international markets.
“It’s wonderful to be able to not only create art that reminds me of some of my favorite childhood memories, but also brings joy to others,” Barbara says. “I hope it reminds them of memories and peaceful moments they’ve shared with their family and friends in the outdoors.
Check back throughout the month to learn more about Barb and her beautiful artwork!❤️
