POV: When the principal and dean answer "Yes" to: "Would it be OK if any student who shows up to school on 3rd Friday Count Day gets to throw water balloons at you?" it makes for a really fun way to end the week! Thank you Mr. Sellenheim, Mr. Collins, and Mill Creek families for giving scholars the opportunity to show off those throwing arms!

Today the 4th grade scholars paired up as ā€œMacarnoni and Cheeseā€ groups making 3, 4, 5, & 6 digit numbers to compare place values. With a set of cards, each partner created a number, recorded both numbers, & determined whose number was larger. Hands-on learning, rich math discussion, and understanding the value of knowing how place value matters in large numbers. Check it out!

Scholars in attendance will get to throw a water balloon at Mr. Collins and Mr. Sellenheim.

During drop off, parents/guardians will receive a donut and coffee or Bubblā€™r.

The second grade scholars are building on those numeracy skills through Math Stories, a daily story problem that gets them thinking (mental math). This problem required counting by 10s and 1s. They were then introduced a new ā€œWorkplaceā€ - a small group math practice opportunity with a game format which featured counting by 5s. Skip counting & repeated addition - paving the way to multiplication someday! Keep it up, Grade 2!
