LETS PUT AN END TO DISCRIMINATION AND HARASSMENT IN OUR SCHOOLS FOR GOOD.
Apologies for the long post, but there is critical information about how we can elevate the egregious activities our superintendent, some of the administration and our board. As we have long suspected but are now confirming, some in the School District Waukesha intends to design and implement policies in ways that may be discriminatory under the law. This choice leaves the district and possibly individuals open to scrutiny under the first amendment.
We have been working with the Department of Justice for the last year, and their Office of Civil Rights has suggested that any teacher or parent on the behalf of their child that is experiencing bullying, harassment or discrimination should file a complaint through the DOJ portal so that it can be routed appropriately. The form is easy to fill out and is confidential. If you need help accessing or filling out the form, please DM us and we will get in touch with you.
There are particular sections for Employment Litigation for teachers. https://www.justice.gov/crt/employment-litigation-section It is also recommends that teacher file their complaints with the EEOC https://publicportal.eeoc.gov/Portal/Login.aspx to preserve their rights even if they file with DOJ.
Yes it is important to talk to your teacher and principal first, but please be sure to follow a couple of guidelines: 1) always document your conversation and the resolution proposed by the schools in writing, 2) be sure that it is clear that you are making a formal complaint and expect them to treat it as such, 3) if you do not get a healthy resolution for your child or yourself do not wait, file the complaint and let DOJ help you determine how to proceed. I know that we have many good educators and good people in the district, but if we stay silent this will continue.
Here is the link to the complaint portal: https://civilrights.justice.gov/report/

One of the most critical ways we can support equity in our schools is using our voice at the ballot box. Make a plan and vote today. Every vote matters.

Today is National Coming Out Day. Wisconsin's Department of Public Instruction provides resources and supports for districts, educators and parents so that our children have every chance of a healthy identity development. https://dpi.wi.gov/sspw/safe-schools/lgbt
Identity development is as critical to academic success as reading, writing and math. Show your support for a strong Waukesha community by creating a space where all our children are honored and appreciated for being themselves.

Waukesha is the home to many indigenous tribes. As we moved across what is now the US, indigenous children were denied education about their own culture and language. As a result, we have lost a beauty, depth and richness to our culture that cannot be replaced.
