A special thank you to the Jaguar GPTO, Mr. Lowrance, Ms. Haywood, and Ms. Mitchell for all of the amazing decorations and for helping make our truck and trailer absolutely awesome! 💙🐆

A new kitchen at John R Lewis Middle School is giving students more opportunities to learn about growing, preparing and eating healthy food.

Kaitlin’s Kitchen was dedicated Saturday in honor of former Waukegan teacher Kaitlin Schamberger, whose family raised funds to support the project. The kitchen expands the school’s botany and culinary arts program, allowing students to take what they grow in the greenhouse and turn it into meals.

“Students are learning very important life lessons here,” Waukegan Community Unit School District 60 Board of Education President Michael Rodriguez said.

The dedication brought together more than 150 community members, students, educators and local leaders to celebrate Kaitlin’s legacy and the opportunities the kitchen will provide for students and families.

🏈⚾🏐⚽ FALL SPORTS TRYOUTS ARE HERE! 🐾💙

Calling all future Jaguars! We are excited to kick off our fall sports season with Co-Ed Flag Football, Baseball, Girls Volleyball, and Boys Soccer! Tryouts begin Monday, August 24.

Students interested in trying out should report to the cafeteria immediately after school to meet their coaches before heading to tryouts. Please remember to bring comfortable clothes to change into, appropriate athletic shoes/cleats, and a water bottle if desired. Parents/guardians, please have a ride ready when tryouts end each day.
