Golden Wings Team is on the road to Leadville, Colorado! 🏔️💛🖤

This time, our mission takes us far beyond the runway.

We’re heading into the Colorado Rockies to support our athlete, Marina Lazic, as she takes on one of the most legendary challenges in ultrarunning — the Leadville Trail 100 Mile Run.

100 miles. High altitude. Rocky Mountain terrain. One extraordinary challenge. 🏃‍♀️⛰️

Just as in aviation, success at this level requires preparation, discipline, endurance, and the determination to keep moving forward when things get difficult.

For the next few days, Golden Wings Team becomes Marina’s ground crew. ❤️

From Golden to Leadville — the journey has begun.

A NEW CHAPTER IN FLIGHT TRAINING ✈️

We are proud to announce the beginning of a new collaboration between Golden Wings Team, Bristell, and Skill Aviation at Waukegan National Airport (KUGN).

For more than 20 years, Skill Aviation has been a recognized name in flight training in the Chicago area, building a strong reputation that reaches well beyond Illinois and across the United States.

After decades of training pilots on traditional platforms, including older-generation Cessna and Diamond aircraft, Skill Aviation is taking an exciting step forward — introducing Bristell aircraft into its flight training operations.

This is more than adding another airplane to the flight line. It represents a generational leap in training technology: modern airframes, advanced Garmin glass cockpits, efficient powerplants, outstanding handling characteristics, and a cockpit environment designed for the way the next generation of pilots will fly.

Combining Skill Aviation’s more than two decades of flight-training experience with the modern capabilities of Bristell aircraft creates something we are especially excited to see growing right here at Waukegan.

The first aircraft are here.

✈️ FROM NATIONAL AVIATION DAY TO A NEW AVIATION TRADITION

Today, August 19, we celebrate National Aviation Day — a day dedicated to the spirit of flight, the people who made aviation possible, and everyone who continues to keep that dream alive.

For us at GW Aviation, aviation has always been about more than airplanes.

It is about people. Community. Learning. Friendship. Adventure. And the shared passion for flight.

That is why today feels like the perfect day to announce something new.

Some days in aviation are measured in flight hours. Others are measured in moments. ✈️

Today was one of those days when the ramp stayed busy, the engines kept turning, and the sky reminded us why we chose aviation in the first place.

Every takeoff brings a new lesson. Every landing builds experience. Every flight moves someone one step closer to a dream.

For us, aviation has never been only about airplanes — it’s about people, passion, discipline, and the community we continue to build around flying.

Another beautiful day in the sky. Another page in our aviation story. 💛🖤

Some Sundays are meant to slow us down, bring people together, and remind us why aviation is so much more than airplanes. ✈️❤️

Today’s Sunday afternoon at Wisconsin Skydiving Center was exactly that — kids running around the hangar, airplanes and aviation stories all around us, good food on the grill, a warm pot cooking outside, and that unmistakable airport atmosphere that somehow always feels like home.

No schedules. No rush. Just families, friends, aviation, laughter, and time spent together.

These are the moments that build the aviation community — when a hangar becomes a gathering place, children grow up surrounded by airplanes and dreams, and friendships are made far beyond the cockpit.

And when you find an old Wisconsin plate that says “DZ AV8R”, you know you’re definitely in the right place. 😎🪂✈️

Thank you Wisconsin Skydiving Center for a beautiful Sunday afternoon and for keeping that true grassroots aviation spirit alive.

Aviation has taught me that not every lesson comes from a textbook, a checklist, or a flight instructor.

Some lessons come from perfect flights.
Others come from difficult days, unexpected problems, wrong decisions, and people you trusted.

Over the years, I’ve learned that aviation is not about never making mistakes — it is about having the discipline to recognize them, learn from them, and never repeat them.

Aircraft can be repaired. Plans can be changed. Businesses can recover. But trust, safety, and reputation take years to build and only moments to lose.

That is why every challenge becomes part of the journey.

Lesson learned:
Choose your people carefully.
Respect the aircraft.
Follow the standards even when nobody is watching.
Never compromise safety for money or convenience.
And when something goes wrong, don’t waste the lesson.

Aviation has a way of keeping you humble.

You never truly “master” it.
You simply become a better pilot, a better leader, and hopefully a better person with every hour, every decision, and every lesson learned.

Keep flying. Keep learning. Keep moving forward. ✈️

✈️ TRAIN SMARTER. FLY BETTER.

At Golden Wings Team Flight Training Center, training doesn’t stop when the aircraft is on the ground.

Our FAA-approved Advanced Aviation Training Device (AATD) gives pilots and students the opportunity to build skills, practice procedures, and prepare for real-world flying in a controlled and professional training environment.

From instrument procedures and navigation to emergency scenarios, avionics familiarization, and proficiency training, our AATD allows pilots to practice situations that are difficult—or simply inefficient—to reproduce in an actual aircraft.

For us, simulation is not a replacement for flying.
It is what makes every hour in the airplane more valuable.
