Good morning!
The health and safety of everyone in our New Beginnings Family is our priority. As the global outbreak of Coronavirus evolves, we want to prepare for the possibility of a community level outbreak. The immediate health risk is low, however the potential of the public health threat is high. We are closely working with state and local health partners. Currently, DHS has not mandated any centers to close.
Please be aware that this is a very fluid situation and things can change very quickly. It is important that you prepare and plan for the potential of COVID-19 in the same way you prepare for severe weather or other events that could disrupt your normal routine. We will make every attempt to stay open under these circumstances, and will keep you up to date with any new updates or changes.
I want to emphasize some very simple preventive actions, not only for COVID-19, but for viruses of any kind:
1. If you or your child are sick please, please, please stay home.
2. Make sure to cover your sneezes and coughs with a tissue or into your elbow.
3. Always wash hands for 20 plus seconds with soap and water.
I have sent out our sick child policy as a reminder of when your child will be sent home from the center, and as a guide for when to keep your child home. Also, make sure you are getting your information from reliable sources. The Iowa Department of Public Health, CDC and Dallas/Polk County Health provide timely resources. You can find them on Twitter and Facebook as well.
As always, please let me know if you have any questions or concerns. Thank you for taking these extra steps and precautions.
