Claire has been part of our Goddard family since we opened our doors in 2016! As a Preschool 2 teacher, she brings creativity and fun to the classroom with all of the wonderful ideas she comes up with for her students. Her years of experience and dedication have made her such a valued part of our team, and we are so grateful to have had her with us from the very beginning.

Last week, our school welcomed special visitors! Bella the Cow and Sugar the Horse joined us in Waukee to teach our students about farm life. They even got hands-on experience with real farm equipment! Huge thanks to Farmer Jeremy for making farm fun possible. Our Preschool 2 class then spent the day imagining and exploring—playing with tractor toys in corn, examining kernels with magnifying glasses, herding balloon "sheep", and milking "cows"!

Kindergarten readiness can show up in everyday moments, not just big milestones. A few signals to notice:

1. They’re building confidence to try things independently. Examples: walking into a room first, asking for help, or giving something new a try.

2. They’re starting to recognize the letters in their name, even if they’re not reading just yet.

3. They’re showing care and responsibility at home. This could include things like helping pack a bag, feeding a pet, putting away toys, or getting through part of their routine with a little more ease.

Every child grows at their own pace - and readiness looks different for every family. Their preschool teachers can be a great partner in noticing strengths, celebrating progress, and helping you think through what comes next.
