Cate Bryan Piano Studio - NCTM / Steinway Verified Teacher

Offering piano lessons for students ages 5 to adult. Incorporating the cardinal virtues of prudence, temperance, justice, and fortitude into each lesson.

Pursuing progress, not perfection! Cate Bryan, NCTM, began taking piano lessons at the age of 5. By age 12, she began to compete at both the Iowa Music Teachers Association and Music Teachers National Association up through her high school graduation. She accepted a scholarship to attend Hillsdale College, graduating summa cm laude with piano performance and classical studies degrees. She has bee

n teaching piano lessons for 15 years. She is a member of Music Teachers National Association (MTNA), Iowa Music Teachers Association, and currently president of Des Moines Music Teachers Association. In 2020, she obtained the Nationally Certified Teacher of Music in Piano (NCTM) through MTNA, and in 2021, she is the first Iowan to become a Steinway Verified Teacher.

Four years ago, the studio lost its infamous mascot, Blair the Beagle.

We were so grateful for the support all the piano families provided us during that time, and although Dusty Rose has big paws to fill, she's doing a great job!

Today the studio would like to celebrate Carter on his completion of the Faber Level 2A books!

Carter has been so excited to move up to the next level and is enjoying the addition of new treble and bass clef notes!

One of the hardest things to experience as a piano teacher is to watch one of your OGs fly the coop, college-bound.

Tessa, we are so proud of you for starting through the early Faber Primer books and then working and moving your way up to the completion of Level 4!!

We wish you the very best as you journey over to Iowa City - GO HAWKS!

A quick trip to Iowa City for the IMTA Conference!

A wonderful opportunity to meet with other teachers, learn from our guest clinicians, hang out behind the Klais organ, and of course, Hawk like Herky!

Wow! What a very special piano party!

The entire studio was able to join together for a full recital. Each student was quite prepared to perform, and many awards were received!

But most importantly, the studio joined together for a food pantry donation of 253 pounds to WayPoint Resources (aka Waukee Food Pantry).

Please help me celebrate these students and families on a job well done!
