There is something magical about meeting in the garden with children. 🌱 If you’ve ever wondered how we get the kids to eat all of the delicious food that is a part of our program, the biggest secret is involving the children in the process.

Sometimes they watch seeds grow into food they get to harvest and can’t help but try. Other times they watch ingredients become a meal, and all of their senses are involved in the mixing, chopping, stirring, and smelling it cook.

Last month we nibbled on peas that were a sweet explosion in our mouths and pretended to be giants plucking whole broccoli “trees” and eating them with giggles. 🥦 We also delighted in the smell of chamomile and lavender.

Da Vinci teachers Mrs. Weston and Mr. Kane hosted the first Young Writers Educational Retreat (YWER) last weekend at Camp Duncan. ✍️

Twenty-six young writers gathered from six different Waldorf schools to spend a weekend immersed in writing, friendship, and adventure.

When asked what their favorite part of the weekend was, many students — in addition to the writing — mentioned the high ropes course, archery, or kayaking. One student summed everything up beautifully by saying, "I am just so happy to be connected to a community of amazing writers!" 🌿

It was a wonderful experience for these creative and adventurous kids!
