The California Resource Recovery Association (CRRA) named the Pajaro Valley High School Green Grizzlies Club, advised by our Conservation Programs Manager Yesenia Jimenez (pictured, center), the 2025 recipient of their "Next Generation" Recycler Award. This award honors a young individual or youth group that excels in promoting zero waste, waste prevention, reuse, recycling, or composting. Yesenia and the students were honored at the CRRA Annual Conference, held in Monterey.

Founded in 2019, under Yesenia’s leadership, the Green Grizzlies Club engages about 30 students annually in grades 9-12. They operate an on-campus food waste collection and composting program to divert food waste from the landfill - nearly 1500 lbs last year!

Congratulations, Green Grizzlies, on this well deserved recognition of your efforts!

La Asociación de Recuperación de Recursos de California (CRRA) nombró al Club Green Grizzlies de la Escuela Preparatoria Pajaro Valley, asesorado por nuestra Gerente de Programas de Conservación, Yesenia Jiménez (en la foto, en el centro), como el ganador del Premio al Reciclador "Next Generation" de 2025. Este premio reconoce a un joven o grupo juvenil que destaca en la promoción del cero desperdicio, la prevención de residuos, la reutilización, el reciclaje o el compostaje. Yesenia y los estudiantes fueron homenajeados en la Conferencia Anual de la CRRA, celebrada en Monterey.

Fundado en 2019, bajo el liderazgo de Yesenia, el Club Green Grizzlies involucra anualmente a unos 30 estudiantes de 9.º a 12.º grado. Operan un programa de recolección y compostaje de desperdicios de alimentos en el campus para evitar que estos terminen en el vertedero (¡casi 700 kg el año pasado!).
