Meet the teacher, Mrs. Ruth Camburn! ✨
Perhaps the most familiar face on our teaching staff this year, we are so excited to share that Mrs. Camburn will be having an encore year! Mrs. Camburn has been faithfully serving the students of Green Valley Christian School since 1986, and we are so excited that she will be joining us for one more year in the classroom teaching our Grade 1/2 combo class!
Mrs. Camburn has spent the majority of her career serving our youngest learners at Green Valley - teaching both K and 1st grade throughout her time with us. Mrs. Camburn holds both a BA and MA in Christian Education from Biola University, and completed her Teaching Credential at Bethany University. Prior to coming to GVCS, she was involved in Christian camp ministries handling everything from developing curriculum to teaching archery classes. This love of hands-on, experiential learning is still evident in her classroom projects and activities today! 🧪 🎨 🐚 🍃
There is no doubt that Mrs. Camburn LOVES to be a teacher! She says, "I love working with first graders because no one has told them they’re not good at things. They throw themselves enthusiastically into everything they do. They pray and profess their faith and love for Jesus. I may have the title of teacher but they teach me too, and I love it!"
Mrs. Camburn's love for her students shines through in the way she aims to making learn an immersive experience for her them. Whether it's dressing up as a pilgrim, modeling how to be a sea anemone, or putting on an apple party every fall, she is always dreaming up new ways to celebrate the love of learning in her classroom.
Outside of school, Mrs. Camburn loves to read, go for walks, attend church, enjoy her family, and most importantly, hunt for the best cinnamon roll in town! If you have a recommendation, make sure to let her know 😉
We are so grateful for Mrs. Camburn's love, passion, joy and experience on the GVCS staff, and for the time she will spend pouring into our newest group of 1st and 2nd grade students.
