DEVELOPING SCHOLARS

AS PARENTS, we understand the profound influence that a good education can have on our young peoples' lives and we feel strongly that community involvement can be key to the success of the individual student. Like anything else, it takes a commitment from each CEIBA scholar and their parents in order to get the maximum benefits from the school and to achieve one's goals. Our a

bility to send our developing scholars on investigative field trips or to valuable learning opportunities is key to reaching these goals. But scholars need exposure outside of the class, and this is why field-trips are so important. As you can imagine, the fees associated with field-trips can be a cost-prohibitive barrier to a scholar's participation. The CEIBA College Prep Home and School Club provides CEIBA scholars with the resources needed to maximize their potential. Through communication, teamwork, ingenuity and good times, we seek to identify and produce fun and inventive activities for the young and young at heart, and raise funds to offset the costs related to educational activities. Like most successful public schools, parent volunteers provide a rich resource of support across many areas of campus life. As a Home & School Club member, you can be a part of your student’s school experience, become more connected and involved in the community, and lend your talent and expertise in helping to plan, manage and staff many
valued student activities and programs on campus. Volunteers are vital to the success of the CEIBA College Prep Home and School Club. Whether you wish to volunteer your resources by helping behind-the-scenes, donating products, or leading a committee, we welcome your participation. Our Home and School Club relies on individuals like you to make our organization a success.

A survey by the Interactive Autism Network found that nearly two-thirds of children with autism spectrum disorders have been bullied at some point. And it found that these kids are three times as likely as typical kids to have been bullied in the past month.

Thanks to all the scholars at Ceiba for participating in Neighborhood Cleanup. You are building up OUR COMMUNITY and your donation will yield results tenfold! The DJ said he had a blast and you guys know how to have fun.

Last night, I told the kids how the dance was actually added-on as a reward for their efforts at school and their dedication to the environment, and I asked them continue to make good decisions at school, at home, and in their community. I know I speak for all the parents when I say how proud I am of their commitment to learning and creativity.

In the spirit of local activism, I am issuing a CHALLENGE: If you would like to match funds to add to our donation, please send me a message, and I'll be glad to facilitate.

Happy Earth Day!

Raised over $450 at our Save the Earth Dance! Proceeds will go to Bagspeak, CAFF, and Wetlands of Watsonville!!
