Oconee County Schools is excited to participate in Georgia’s PEACH Education Tax Credit, giving eligible Georgia taxpayers an opportunity to turn a portion of their state tax obligation into a meaningful investment that directly benefits OCS students.

Participants can designate OCS for their contribution and receive a dollar-for-dollar credit on their Georgia state income taxes. Funds raised for OCS will support the continued growth of Career, Technical and Agricultural Education (CTAE), including upgrades to existing lab spaces and the exploration of additional career pathways for the future.

Strong CTAE programs benefit all students, whether they plan to attend a four-year university or technical college, enter the workforce, join the military, or complete an apprenticeship. Updated facilities and expanded programs give students opportunities to develop real-world skills, explore career interests, earn industry credentials, and graduate better prepared for their next step.

With football season just one week away, our high school bands are getting ready to take the field, too!

Their preparation started long before the first day of school as students at Oconee County and North Oconee High Schools began rehearsals at band camp this summer and have continued putting in the work to get their halftime performances ready for the fall.

OCS students earned four No. 1 rankings among Georgia county school systems on the 2025-2026 Georgia Milestones, taking the top spot in mathematics in grades 3, 5, 7 and 8.

OCS also ranked among the top three county school systems statewide in mathematics at every assessed grade level from third through eighth grade, with additional top-three rankings in eighth-grade social studies, high school Algebra Concepts & Connections and high school Biology.

How are our youngest learners using new classroom tools to engage, participate and learn?

For our August Point of Pride, we’re taking you inside our K-3 classrooms for a look at how the updated interactive panels are being used by students and teachers.

These panels are one of the many tools our teachers use to support great instruction and create engaging learning experiences for students. And as you’ll see, they’re already creating some pretty fun moments!
