Extra Mile Tutoring: Who We Are

My name is Clay McElheny, and I am an experienced educator with 18+ years of experience in education, supporting middle and high school students across math, science, and STEM courses.

I am a Georgia-certified educator with certifications in Mathematics as well as Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Engineering, and Educational Leadership. I have served as a classroom teacher for AP-level courses, an Engineering instructor, and currently as a Work-Based Learning/Dual Enrollment Coordinator, where I support students academically and help them connect learning to real-world applications.

My tutoring approach focuses on breaking concepts into clear, manageable steps, identifying and closing learning gaps, reinforcing classroom instruction, and building confidence and problem-solving skills so students can succeed independently.

Outside of education, I’m a husband and father of two daughters, who keep me very busy and grounded. Being a parent myself helps shape how I work with students—patiently, encouragingly, and with a strong understanding of the balance families manage between school and life.

I look forward to partnering with families through Extra Mile Tutoring to help students strengthen their learning skills, improve performance, and gain confidence in all things math and science.

Extra Mile Tutoring: Who We Are

Madison Smith grew up in Hooks, Texas. She currently teaches 8th grade math, and has worked as a Special Education Paraprofessional at the high school level. Madison graduated from Texarkana College with her associate’s degree in early childhood education in 2022, then graduated from Texas A&M University Texarkana in 2024 with a bachelor’s degree in business administration and management.

Madison believes that providing a fun and understanding learning environment helps students digest the material more. She believes that any student can be successful, they just have to believe in themselves.

Madison has been with Extra Mile Tutoring since 2026.

The RACE strategy in action!

Ms. Mallory and her student have been working hard on mastering the RACE strategy, a powerful tool for strengthening reading comprehension and written responses!

To practice restating answers, they played a fun game of Jenga while answering questions. They also worked on creating their own questions from given answers to deepen understanding and critical thinking.

The RACE strategy is key to helping students grow in both reading and writing confidence, and we love making learning interactive and exciting!

Extra Mile Tutoring: Who We Are

Gabby O’Halloran was born and raised in Tallahassee, Florida and moved to Georgia three years ago. She is certified as a PreK–5th grade educator with a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from the University of Florida. Gabby began her teaching journey in her home state of Florida. She has had the opportunity to work with a wide range of students: two years in kindergarten, a year teaching English in Spain, a year in 2nd grade, and two years in 1st grade.

While she enjoys teaching all subjects, her true passion is in reading instruction and phonics. She loves watching students build confidence as they develop new reading strategies and phonics skills.

Gabby’s teaching philosophy centers around the belief that children learn best through play-based activities and setting meaningful goals. She believes every child is capable of success, it’s just a matter of finding the right key to unlock their potential.

She’s excited to join Extra Mile Tutoring as she transitions from the traditional classroom to a more individualized, one-on-one approach where she can support students in a way that’s personalized to their needs.

Elizabeth’s student has been strengthening her Spanish reading and comprehension skills by exploring the microcuento “La rana que quería ser una rana auténtica.” After reading, she completed comprehension questions in Google NotebookLM and shared her own thoughtful analysis of the story and its moral 🐸✨

She’s now engaging in a guided conversation to build confidence, improve fluency, and practice using the pretérito tensein real communication — all while having fun and growing her skills!

We are excited to announce a special opportunity for your student to prepare for the upcoming SAT! We’re offering a 4-session SAT Bootcamp Series led by the incredible Ms. Debbie Longhi, designed to give students a comprehensive, focused preparation experience over four weeks.

Bootcamp Dates:
* Saturday, February 7, 2026
* Saturday, February 14, 2026
* Saturday, February 21, 2026
* Saturday, February 28, 2026

Time: 9:00 AM – 11:00 AM

This Bootcamp Series includes four, two-hour sessions tailored to help students succeed on the SAT by focusing on core academic areas covered on the exam: Reading, Math, Science, and English. Ms. Longhi will guide students through key strategies, test-taking techniques, and official practice problems to reinforce their learning and boost confidence.

Here’s what your student will gain from the Bootcamp Series:

* Test Preparation Strategies: Proven methods for tackling each SAT section.
* In-depth Review: Targeted instruction in Reading, Math, Science, and English.
