There is still space left! The course runs March 16-May 8 and we're going to have a blast looking into excess screentime and AI impacts on emerging adolescents.

Did you know that there is emerging evidence of "virtual autism?" Check it out https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC10979776/

We'll look at other trends in this area as well throughout the course.

Check out this neat opportunity!

Dear School and District Leaders,
I am excited to share that applications for the Omicron Class of Education Leaders Experience (ELE) are now open. The ELE program offers educational leaders a unique professional development opportunity to engage with employers in regions across Maine, develop advocacy skills, and strengthen their leadership skills. Participants learn about Maine’s workforce challenges and opportunities and how education connects to sustaining economic growth.

ELE is a program developed and funded by Unum. Educate Maine administers the program in partnership with the Maine Principals’ Association and University of New England Online. The yearlong program consists of opening and closing retreats, monthly visits to employers in various regions, and a legislative day in Augusta. These sessions help participants expand their understanding of student career pathways and help them develop skills to build high quality partnerships between schools and employers.

Thanks to Unum’s financial support, the program only costs $1,425 per participant for the full cohort experience. The fee includes program costs, materials, meals, and facilities for the orientation, the seven sessions of the program (10 days), and the graduation. Participants earn 80 contact hours and are eligible for a 25% tuition discount on graduate courses at the University of New England.

ELE alumni often note this program is one of the best professional development experiences they have participated in. All of the details about the program including the dates and application are available here. Applications will be reviewed and accepted on a rolling basis until all spots are filled, so be sure to submit yours soon! If you have any questions, please contact Hannah Greene at [email protected].
