Join us for Tristan Kanitz's Senior Trombone & Composition Recital at 5:00pm on Saturday April 25 in Gordon Center Studio 2!

Tristan is a senior at Colby College, originally from Southern California. He is majoring in Music Computation, an interdisciplinary degree combining music and computer science. Tristan first started playing trombone in middle school, and he has performed with the Colby Orchestra, Wind Ensemble, Trombone Ensemble, and Jazz Band, as well as the Blue Devils Drum and Bugle Corps in 2023.

Tristan has composed original music at Colby with the help of Professor José Martínez. He will be pursuing a Master of Music in Composition at Western Michigan University.

The Colby Music Department invites you to trombonist Joshua Zhang's Senior Recital at 2pm on Sat April 25 in Lorimer Chapel!

Joshua is a double Computer Science/Music major from Wayland, Massachusetts and has played in many music ensembles during his four years at Colby.

In 2023, Joshua won the Department of Music Concerto Competition and performed the first movement of the Grøndahl Trombone Concerto with the Colby Symphony Orchestra, as well as earning Colby's Music Department Performance Prize of 2023. Joshua also won the Judith Elser Concerto Competition and performed the first movement of the Tomasi Trombone Concerto with the Midcoast Symphony Orchestra in 2025.

Join us for a Listening Party celebrating the release of two new albums by Assistant Professor of Music José Martínez.

Professor Martínez will share selections from both albums and offer behind-the-scenes insight into his creative process and compositional tools.

Following the presentation, guests will move to the Gordon Center Forum for a reception featuring Colombian cuisine at 7:00 PM.

Kathryne will graduate in May with a double major in Music and Biology. After Colby, she'll will be working as a Clinical Team Assistant at MaineHealth Orthopaedics and Sports Medicine through Northeastern’s Roux Institute Pre-Clinical Healthcare Gap Year Program, before applying to medical school.
