It's the last week of classes on campus and there is a lot to celebrate! Our student teachers are finishing up their placements this week and to celebrate, we had a festive dinner after the yearly campus awards ceremony. So many Education Majors & Minors received awards at the yearly ceremony -- including three of our student teachers -- Christian Gobo in English, Emily Marden in French, and Aidan Jones in Biology. Proud of all of our seniors and what they have accomplished this year. We can't wait to see what they accomplish in the future.

Attention Colby Students: Join us for an engaging evening with Professor Adam Howard as part of the Lectures on Tap series.
Are boys really broken, or are we asking the wrong question? In this talk, Professor Adam Howard argues that the story we keep telling about a “boys crisis” gets boys wrong. He explores how TikTok, the manosphere, and online culture shape boys’ ideas about masculinity, belonging, and worth, and offers a different vision: resilient masculinity, rooted in connection, honesty, and accountability.
When: April 23, 2026
Time: 7:00 PM
Where: The Pub
Come for the ideas, stay for the conversation – the first 60 attendees receive a free drink. Grab a seat, bring a friend, and join us for a thoughtful discussion about boys, masculinity, and the future.

Hey Colby Education fam! Check out Daniel, Daisy, Elle, Gabby, and Kelly living their best life on Spring Break! Looks like an incredible time. ☀️💙

We rounded out Spring Break on campus with a couple of wonderful conferences! Colby Education students Arianna Chappell, '26 & Emily Sanborn, '29 and faculty member Dr. Brown volunteered at the Maine Safer School's Conference hosted in part by our friends over at Educate Maine. There they got to chat a bit with Cony High School's Beth Russell whose daughter will be attending next year and plans to study education policy! Also in attendance -- Colby Alum Avery Munns, '21 who is currently an ESOL teacher at Waterville Senior High School as well as the facilitator for the Central Maine Education Consortium's (CMEC) Multilingual Learner Special Interest Group (SIG). We also saw CMEC Arts Integration SIG member Serena Sanborn with her Waterville Creates colleague Stevie as they provided an "art break" for the middle and high school students in attendance. Dr. Brown ended the day visiting the Maine Alternative Education Conference also being held on campus. There she got to see her CMEC Alternative Education SIG buddies Karen Foster and Art Meneses from LEAP at Lawrence High School. What a wonderful day for education at Colby!

It may be Spring Break on campus, but Dr. Brown and Dr. Liu had a fabulous time collaborating with local educators at the CMEC's March Mingle at KVCC. Great conversations about education in Central Maine...and even a CMEC themed cake. Looking forward to hosting the CMEC at our Dine & Discuss at Colby in May!

While our students are heading back to campus for the spring semester, we thought we'd share some powerful work that went on during Jan Plan in Dr. Brown's Educating All Learners in Inclusive Classroom course. Pics show our p4c Hawaii discussion on Alice Wong's "Disability Visibility" and also our panel with RSU18 Special Services Director Cheryl Mercier and Special Education teacher Brynn Charest. Students also had an amazing panel from students and teachers (including Colby Alum Keryn Kwedor) from the Landmark School. Thanks for sharing your knowledge with us!
