Thereโ€™s nothing quite like Open House in Watertown! ๐Ÿ’œ๐Ÿ’›

Our schools were filled with excitement as students and families walked the halls, visited classrooms, met teachers and staff, and got ready for an incredible year ahead!

Our Open Houses are about reconnecting with familiar faces, welcoming new ones, building relationships, and reminding everyone what makes the Watertown City School District community so special.

From our youngest learners beginning a brand-new adventure, to our seniors preparing for their final first day, and every student and milestone in between; weโ€™re excited to have our Cyclones back! ๐Ÿซ

Thank you to our families, students, teachers, staff, and administrators who came together to make Open House such a wonderful start to the year.

๐Ÿ’œ๐Ÿ’› The halls are ready. Our classrooms are ready. Our staff is ready. Hereโ€™s to an amazing 2026โ€“2027 school year, Watertown! ๐ŸŒช๏ธ

๐ŸŽ BACK TO SCHOOL? OUR EDUCATORS NEVER REALLY LEFT!

While students enjoyed their summer break, learning and preparation continued throughout the Watertown City School District.

This summer, WCSD educators and staff completed more than 6,500 hours of professional development and curriculum work in preparation for the 2026โ€“2027 school year.

Teachers, aides, assistants, administrators, and other staff spent the summer learning, collaborating, developing curriculum, and strengthening instructional practices to better support our students.

Professional learning focused on areas including literacy, mathematics, special education, student behavior and support, instructional technology, artificial intelligence, school improvement, and effective teaching practices. Staff also worked alongside partners including The Reading League, the University of Florida Literacy Institute, Jefferson-Lewis BOCES, and PIVOT.

Many of these opportunities were led by our own Watertown educators and instructional leaders, giving staff the opportunity to learn from one another and share expertise across the District.

When our students return, they may not see the thousands of hours that went into preparing for the year ahead, but they will experience the results in their classrooms every day.

More than 6,500 hours of learning, collaboration, and preparation; all focused on providing the best possible educational experience for our students.

We are ready for 2026โ€“2027! ๐Ÿ’œ๐Ÿ’›

Food 4 Families is Looking for a Community Volunteer!

For years, our Food 4 Families program has quietly helped ensure that Watertown students and families have food available when they need it most. This important program is made possible entirely through the generosity of our community and the dedication of volunteers.

We are currently looking for an additional lead community volunteer to join our Food 4 Families team and help with the ongoing coordination of the program.

This is a wonderful opportunity for someone who is organized, dependable, enjoys working with others, and wants to make a meaningful difference for children and families in our community.

Responsibilities may include helping to coordinate food purchases and donations, organizing and packing food, maintaining supplies, and working with other volunteers and district contacts.

If youโ€”or someone you knowโ€”might be interested in learning more about this volunteer opportunity, please contact Assistant Superintendent for Instruction, Lynn Gaffney at [email protected] or 315-785-3708.

A few hours of your time each week can make a tremendous difference for Watertown families.
