Literacy of Northern New York We provide one-to-one tutoring to adults who are non-readers up through 8th grade level. We help people learn English as a second language.

Our services are free, thanks to grants we receive from the NYS Education Department and United Way of NNY.

Our beloved English as a Second Language teacher, Deborah Tate, has retired (again). Some of her students gathered to say goodbye to her last Wednesday. Francisco made delicious arepas and Chris Brock made a scrumptious pavlova for dessert. Deborah helped countless students learn English, served as a reference to help students and tutors get jobs, and has been an invaluable employee at Literacy of Northern NY. She will be missed!

On Monday, the Watertown Intermediate English class took a quick jaunt to the Jefferson County Historical Society to check out the garden. It is nice to get outside and get some fresh air and take a break from an inside class. We looked at the Pink School House and the log cabin and walked around the garden.
