Another STEM Teacher Extern visit today! Thank you to Friends at the Family in Waterloo for hosting STEM Teacher Extern Jon Dennis from Waterloo Community Schools as he explores the growing role of artificial intelligence in the workplace. Experiences like these provide educators with firsthand insight into emerging technologies and industry applications, helping them bring relevant, real-world learning opportunities back to their students. We appreciate our community partners for investing in STEM education and helping prepare the future workforce.

Grow Cedar Valley is committed to bringing industry and education together around shared workforce priorities. Today’s Cedar Valley Manufacturers Association Advisory Council conversation was a great example of that work in action.

Now that the summer rush is “over”, time to catch up on some moments from over the last few weeks!

Back in May, Phinleigh, Taylor, and Jazlynn competed in the District Floriculture Contest at Hawkeye! They placed 16th out of 41 teams!

We were honored to welcome Waterloo Mayor Dave Boesen, Debi Durham, Director of the Iowa Economic Development Authority, and Noel Anderson, Waterloo Community Planning & Development Coordinator, to the Waterloo Career Center!

The tour was led by our own Secretary, Ceonte Brown, Future Assistant Principal Josh Barta, and Waterloo United Principal Zach O'Brien. It was a great opportunity to showcase the incredible work happening at the Career Center and the impact it's making on students and our community.

Congratulations to our very own, Jon Dennis! Jon recently finished the Mark Cuban Foundation AI Teacher Bootcamp, a rigorous 10-month professional development program where secondary educators log 20 hours of hands-on AI learning.

The Bootcamp isn't a quick overview. Teachers who complete it walk away with hands-on experience using AI tools in ways that expand what's possible for their students, not just streamline their own workflows. Jon joined educators from across all 50 states to do that work, and we're proud to recognize his commitment.

☀️ Free Summer Meals are Back for 2026! 🍎
School might be out soon, but the cafeteria is staying open! The Waterloo Community School District is thrilled to announce our participation in the 2026 Summer Food Service Program.

We’re making sure our students stay fueled and ready for summer fun with FREE meals for all children ages 18 and under. No registration, no paperwork, and no charge—just show up and eat!

Important Note for 2026:
To keep things fresh and safe, all meals must be enjoyed on-site this year. Grab a seat, catch up with friends, and enjoy a healthy meal on us! 🥗🥛

Meals are served on a first-come, first-served basis at the following locations and times on the graphic.
