What a Day!! Today at Saint Edward we welcomed guests from Franklin Covey for our Lighthouse milestone review. Our kids were so excited to share their light! Also, we prepared for Ash Wednesday and Lent with our putting away of the Alleluia prayer service. Now we turn our hearts to our Lenten journey!
Last week students and staff at Saint Edward welcomed guests from Grundy Center to collaborate around our Leader in Me journey. Students at Saint Edward are getting into the Olympic spirit! During PE with Mrs. Witt the students got to try their hand at several Olympic events. A few unique twists bring these events to life for our kids and help to build connections to the different events they might see in Beijing during the Winter Olympics.
It's been a fun week celebrating Catholic Schools Week! We had special guests, celebrated our country, our community, our teachers, and our students! Students reflected on their own gifts and what they can do to develop their own vocation. Kindergarten did a fantastic job leading us in Mass for the first time this year! Thank you to our school family for your support, financial sacrifices, and prayers! Each student, family, and staff member have a part in making our school great! Thank you! π
Even in a short week big things happen at Saint Edward! We welcomed a full house to our Habit 4 Leadership Breakfast. Our 2nd grade students taught our families about the importance of thinking Win-Win. On Monday some Saint Edward alum came back to help us submit our Lighthouse Evidence Binder!! These leaders helped light the torch during their time @ Saint Edward and we were glad they could help us celebrate this major step in the process! Thanks Owen, Sofia, Emily and Yeeyea for representing all the former students who helped us evolve in our Leadership journey!!
On Monday, students learned about the Mexican celebration of Las Posadas. In the afternoon, students reenacted the journey of Joseph and Mary as they searched for an Inn to stay at in Bethlehem. As a school family we prayed, reflected, and sang together. Our focus is preparing our hearts for Jesus.
A big shout out to our student leaders who led us in a Juan Diego & Our Lady of Guadalupe prayer service.
On Saturday our PTO sponsored another great family and community opportunity as we got in the Christmas spirit with our Snacks with Santa event. A special thank you to the PTO members who helped plan this wonderful morning and to our student leaders who helped greet and lead a variety of stations and activities.

Thanksgiving Day celebrates family with food and traditions! The 3rd graders used a budget to plan a family meal and then finished their day reading Balloons Over Broadway. Students drew their own balloons to be used in the Macey's Thanksgiving Day Parade! Happy Thanksgiving to all! π¦
It is a season to be thankful! Students and adults in our school family have been learning and living the 7 Habits at Saint Edward! Community members spent the day at our school listening to students share their goals and mission statements. Our students have been teaching adults about the habits during monthly breakfasts. In addition, student buddies have been working with each other building community and sharing their knowledge about the habits. It is definitely a Win-Win for our school family! We are so thankful for your continued support and prayers! Please continue praying for us during our journey to be a Lighthouse School!
