Students enrolled in DNT collaborate on projects with a focus on critical thinking, problem-solving, and communication. Students also learn life and career skills such as flexibility, initiative, self-direction, leadership, productivity, and social skills as they work on real-world projects. For example, DNT students learn through PBL experiences in the community, and in working directly with loca
l businesses to complete tangible projects. Each project that students complete factors in four key skills that students will need to succeed in the 21st century. These include Oral Communication & Presentation, Written Communication, Collaboration & Teamwork, and Work Ethic & Effort. As with other high school students, DNT students have the option to participate in vocational classes during their Junior and Senior years. In addition, students have the option of enrolling in elective classes along with traditional students. Students enrolled in DNT blend in with the entire school population in many ways, including participating in athletics, the arts, band, show choir, and a wide range of extracurricular activities.
