💙 Waterloo Schools extends our deepest condolences to the family, friends, colleagues, and loved ones of Josh Tack.

Our hearts are heavy following the tragic loss of Josh, who lost his life in an accident over the weekend.

Josh was an important part of the Waterloo Schools family. He taught and coached at Hoover Middle School, then taught and coached at West High School, and later taught at Expo Alternative Learning Center. Throughout his time with Waterloo Schools, Josh built meaningful relationships with students, families, and colleagues and made a lasting impact on the lives of the young people he served.

As the son of a longtime Waterloo Schools employee, Josh’s connection to our district ran even deeper. His dedication to students, his passion for helping young people succeed, and the positive influence he had on those around him will not be forgotten.

A 2011 graduate of Hudson High School, Josh dedicated his career to supporting students and helping them find their path forward. His legacy will live on through the many students, colleagues, and families whose lives he touched.

We stand alongside Josh’s family and loved ones, as well as the entire BCLUW school community, during this heartbreaking time. We are keeping everyone who knew and cared for Josh in our thoughts and surrounding them with care and support.

We celebrated a remarkable milestone today, bidding farewell to an extraordinary group of staff whose dedication has left a lasting mark on our community. Their tireless efforts have empowered countless students, and though their absence will be deeply felt, we're equally thrilled to see them embark on this new chapter.

Congratulations to Suzie, Bruce, and Gloria on their retirement.

And here's to our staff members who have reached milestone years of service; your commitment and perseverance inspire us all. 🦅

☀️ Free Summer Meals are Back for 2026! 🍎
School might be out soon, but the cafeteria is staying open! The Waterloo Community School District is thrilled to announce our participation in the 2026 Summer Food Service Program.

We’re making sure our students stay fueled and ready for summer fun with FREE meals for all children ages 18 and under. No registration, no paperwork, and no charge—just show up and eat!

Important Note for 2026:
To keep things fresh and safe, all meals must be enjoyed on-site this year. Grab a seat, catch up with friends, and enjoy a healthy meal on us! 🥗🥛

Meals are served on a first-come, first-served basis at the following locations and times on the graphic.
