Every Day Matters! 💚
Chronic absenteeism can impact learning, relationships, & a student’s long-term success.
Ohio’s House Bill 96 made important changes to school attendance, emphasizing early intervention, family communication, & support when students begin missing too much school.
Under the updated law:
📚 Chronic absenteeism is missing at least 10% of required school hours.
🤝 All absences count toward chronic absenteeism, including excused absences.
📣 Schools must notify families when attendance concerns reach specified thresholds.
💚 Schools are expected to use prevention, intervention, & support strategies to address the barriers keeping students from school.
The goal isn't simply to count absences. It's to understand why students are missing school & connect them & their families with the support they may need to get back on track.
Attendance is everyone's responsibility ~ schools, families, students, & our community.
Let's work together to make sure every student is present, supported, connected, & ready to learn.
