New York Student Exchange

It was 15 years ago when we hosted our first student and now we have become part of an international family that has brought us more love and joy than we could have ever imagined all those years ago. Not only have we stayed in touch with our students, but some of our closest friends started out as fellow host families. We have traveled and celebrated life events together and it all started by opening our home to one teenage boy. His family and our family are forever linked.

We are looking for hosts for foreign exchange students for the 2023-2024 school year in the following counties in New York: Albany, Columbia, Dutchess, Essex, Fulton, Greene, Hamilton, Herkimer, Montgomery, Rensselaer, Saratoga, Schnectady, Schoharie, Ulster, Warren, Washington as well as the Southern Vermont Counties of: Addison, Bennington, Rutland, Windham and Windsor.

We have students that need hosts from January till June. Please open your heart and home to one or more of these wonderful kids.

We have a 16 year old girl from Slovakia who likes the outdoors, cooking and baking. She is an A-B student.
We have a 15 year old boy from Brazil, he likes sports, reading and computers and he is at the top of his class.
We have a 15 year old girl from Germany who likes Art, dancing and competes in track and field. She would like to learn some American sports while here. She is an A student.

If you are considering hosting, let me know so we can get the paperwork out of the way. It doesn't commit you, but if you fill it out early, it makes the process run smoothly and gives you first pick of the students as their profiles and applications are submitted.

Want to host a student, but a full year is a little scary? We have students that come from January till June, that need commitments now. The first student is a 16 year old girl, Janka from Slovakia. Janka is Catholic, she loves snow sports and painting. She loves cooking and baking. She enjoys small children and works with them at a summer camp. She is fluent in English and lived in the US for her first 3 years in Michigan. Her life long dream is to be in NY. Can you make her dream come true?

Moments as an exchange host
1. Students photographing their veggies because their families thought that Americans only eat fast food and steak, and they were worried about their health.
2. Students find BJs and Costco a hilarious adventure.
3. My daughter trying to learn Basque folk dances and falling over.
4. Watching boys from Spain attempt to talk to kids from The Dominican Republic is entertaining.
5. 50 degrees is freezing to kids from Bangkok
6. My son does not like kimchi, neither does the dog
7. Kids from tropical places do not shovel snow well (at first, ha ha)
8. Laughter comes naturally and breaks down walls.
9. You will not see moose in VT with your student, they hide.
10. Explaining Halloween is not as easy as you think.
