A huge thank you to Community Church for their incredible generosity to our school this year! Their Vacation Bible School students put together wonderful welcome baskets for our staff to kick off the school year. On top of that, Community Church donated $2,803.50 to our Helping Hands fund, directly supporting local families in need. We are so grateful for their partnership!

Join us in welcoming Erica Brown to Fox River Middle School đź’š

Erica graduated from the University of Wisconsin–Whitewater in December 2025 with a degree in Elementary Education and a minor in Social Studies. She completed her student teaching as an intern working with the 6th-grade class at Fox River, and she is a 2022 graduate of Waterford Union High School.

Erica grew up right between Union Grove and Waterford alongside her parents, an older brother, and a younger sister. She also has a 5-month-old orange kitten named Monty.

She is thrilled to stay in Waterford and join the 8th-grade ELA team, and she cannot wait to see all of the students again!

We would like to welcome Lauren Way to the WGSD team as a new 5th-grade teacher at Evergreen.

Lauren initially attended Marquette University, studying criminology with a pre-law track, before discovering her passion for education. She graduated with a Bachelor's in Elementary Education from the University of Wisconsin–Stevens Point in 2025.

Having previously taught middle school reading intervention, Lauren believes in prevention before intervention. Her goal is to equip thriving 5th graders with all the necessary tools to succeed in middle school, high school, and beyond.

A quote that resonates with her comes from Benjamin Franklin: "An investment in education pays the best interest."

Born and raised in Burlington, Wisconsin, Lauren always knew she wanted to return to the area after college, and she is thrilled to join the WGSD team. She is a major animal lover with two cats, Jima and Josie. Outside of school, Lauren enjoys spending time outdoors, reading, shopping, and trying new local restaurants and coffee shops.

Welcome to Jenny who will be joining our team at Woodfield as the new school counselor đź’š

Jenny Holle is thrilled to join the Waterford Graded School District as the School Counselor at Woodfield Primary School.

She earned her Bachelor’s degree in Special Education from UW-Milwaukee and her Master’s degree in School Counseling from UW-Whitewater. Over the course of her career in education, Jenny has served as a Special Education Teacher, a statewide safe and healthy schools coordinator, and a School Counselor. She is excited to bring her background to Woodfield Primary and looks forward to connecting with students and families.

On a personal note, Jenny and her husband have three children and a very spoiled dog named Auggie. In her free time, she enjoys hiking, helping with youth musical theater, and volunteering with local animal shelters.

A quote from Maya Angelou deeply resonates with her: "Do the best you can until you know better. Then when you know better, do better." As a lifelong learner, this quote inspires Jenny to continuously grow alongside the school community. She looks forward to partnering with families and staff to support students every single day.

Welcome to Layla Nowak, who will be a special education teacher at Evergreen!

Layla Nowak is extremely excited to start her teaching journey at Evergreen Elementary as a student teacher. She is currently in her final semester at UW-Whitewater and will graduate at the end of the year with a Bachelor's degree in Special Education.

Layla has spent the last four years in various schools and college classrooms building her knowledge and skills, learning everything from supporting students with diverse needs to effectively collaborating with parents and colleagues.

A favorite quote of hers comes from Winnie the Pooh, where Piglet says, "The things that make me different are the things that make me, me." Layla loves this quote because it celebrates individuality, emphasizing that unique qualities are strengths to be embraced in every student.

When she isn't in the classroom, Layla loves going thrifting, especially spending hours exploring the trinket aisles. She also enjoys baking, having spent time making sourdough loaves over the summer, and crafting at home while cuddling with her cat, Bonsai. Layla is eager to build connections with students and continue growing her classroom skills throughout the experience.
