College applications are officially underway for Oakland ACE Early College’s Grade 13 students! 🎓

Last week, students gathered at Oakland Schools’ main campus for the College Application Kickoff.

Throughout the fall, each student will receive one-on-one coaching through every step of the process, from completing applications and crafting essays to securing letters of recommendation and more.

We’re excited to support our students as they plan for what’s next, and we can’t wait to celebrate their college offers and future opportunities this winter and spring!

Oakland ACE Early College is excited to welcome more than 80 incoming 11th-grade students to its three-year early college program! 🎓

Students are registered for their college courses and ready to begin their college journey. Throughout the program, students receive weekly support from an early college coordinator during seminar, helping them develop the skills, confidence, and strategies they need to succeed in their college classes.

Interested in Oakland ACE? Fall enrollment opens Oct. 1 for current 11th-grade students interested in joining the program for winter 2027.

Strong Career and Technical Education begins with supported educators.

This summer, the OSTC New Teacher Academy brought new instructors together with veteran educators and instructional coaches for focused professional learning.

Through collaboration, practical guidance and shared expertise, participants strengthened their ability to turn industry knowledge into engaging, relevant learning experiences for students.

By investing in educators, OSTC is strengthening the talent pipeline and preparing students with the skills our communities and industries need.

🚌 School buses are back on the road and keeping students safe is a responsibility we all share.

As students across our region head back to school, every driver plays an important role in keeping them safe. Slow down, stay alert, and never pass a school bus when its red lights are flashing and its stop arm is extended.

Watch carefully for students at bus stops, especially during busy morning and afternoon hours.

Families: Remind students to wait in a safe location, follow the driver’s directions, and look both ways before crossing.

A few extra moments of patience can help protect students across our region. Let’s work together for a safe start to the school year.

Oakland County education professionals are invited to join Educator Journeys: World Religions of Oakland County, a year-long cohort experience in partnership with Oakland Schools and the Interfaith Leadership Council.

Through visits to local houses of worship, participants will learn about different cultures, explore connections to student learning, share culturally specific meals, and network with colleagues across Oakland County.

The series includes five Thursday sessions on October 8, December 10, February 11, April TBD, and May TBD. Space is limited to 50 participants, and the cost is $150, and includes meals.

Oakland Schools’ Student Services team is pursuing SparkPath’s Challenge Mindset Certification!

Through this learning experience, team members are building skills and strategies to help students shift from asking, “What should I do?” to exploring, “What challenge do I want to solve?”

The team is learning practical ways to strengthen career conversations, turn student insights into meaningful next steps, explore possibilities using generative AI and help students approach their futures with greater clarity, curiosity and purpose. 🌱

The Student Services team looks forward to bringing the Challenge Mindset to its work with students, educators and school communities across Oakland County.
