It is a perfect time for periodic shifts from silent reflection, meaningful discussion, new experiences with wildlife and flora, and building a trusting rapport with a supportive and caring mentor.

JOB DESCRIPTION

We are in need of support specialists and supervised visitation coaches for Hartford/Meriden/Southbury/Waterbury/Wolcott/Windsor and other parts of the state!

Do you have a passion for working with young people? Do you love seeing families reunified and well-supported? Do you have the patience to work with children with behavioral or social challenges? If so, you may have what it takes to be a mentor or therapeutic support or supervised visitation worker for children and families.

The role of a therapeutic support specialist is to provide structured community-based support, that is consistent with the youth's identified treatment plan objectives. Staff can commit to work with one youth once per week or multiple youths, several days out of the week. This flexibility is perfect for those with full or part time jobs looking for more to do or for anyone looking for something rewarding to do while receiving competitive compensation!

The therapeutic support staff will model and provide engaging activities to help the child/youth achieve his/her goals. This service is designed as part of the youth's comprehensive treatment plan, and collaboration with other service providers is expected. To maintain consistency a three (3) to six (6) month commitment to each child you begin supporting is required.

Brief monthly reports outlining activities and the child's/youth's progress toward their goals using Microsoft Word and/or PDF docs is required.

LOCATION

We are looking to contract with individuals from various locations across Connecticut, as we support youth referred from various foster care, state and other agencies/entities throughout the state.

STAFF QUALIFICATIONS

Must be a minimum of 21 years of age and hold a minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in a Human Services field (social work, sociology, counseling, child welfare, psychology, marriage and family therapy, education, social services, criminal justice, child care management, child development, family studies or other human services degree).

***SPECIAL CONSIDERATION***: Individuals without the preferred Bachelor’s Degree in a Human Services field, but who have at least seven (7) years of paid experience working with children and youth will be considered case-by-case.

Demonstrated experience working with children and youth within the last 5 years.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS FOR ALL STAFF

A valid Connecticut motor vehicle license
Current motor vehicle certificate of insurance
Copy of Diploma from highest education attained.
Mandated Reporter Training or willingness to obtain with us
First Aid and CPR certificates issued by a nationally recognized accredited organization are required.
DPS Criminal Background Check
DCF Child Protective Services (CPS) Check
OTHER REQUIREMENTS/CONSIDERATIONS

This is an Independent Contractor position.
Experience working with children and youth with autism or other developmental or behavioral challenges.
Must commit to work six (6) months after beginning first assignment.
BA/BS in human services/social work strongly desired but significant experience (7 years) working in human service field may be accepted.
Must follow the child's activity schedule.

TRANSPORTATION REQUIRMENTS

Must have a reliable well-maintained vehicle, that is in good and safe mechanical condition.
Must have a valid CT driver's license in good standing.
Minimum of three (3) years licensed driving experience.
Must have car insurance with $50,000/$100,000 Bodily Injury

Job Types: Contract, Part-time
Salary: $15.00 - $19.00 per hour
