The village has landed, y’all. 🌿🐢

I’m so excited — and honestly a little emotional — to finally share the website for Casa Tortuga, the physical sanctuary in Borikén/Puerto Rico that I have been dreaming and working into being.

Many of you have followed my journey of creating virtual spaces for healing, self-directed living, intuitive remembering, and community. This land feels like the next unfolding of that work — a place where we can gather in person, rest deeply, reconnect with ourselves and the earth, and remember who we are.

Casa Tortuga is a private mountain sanctuary in Añasco, Puerto Rico, created for intimate retreats, family and friend gatherings, healing experiences, and meaningful time together.

The name holds a very special story that I’ll share more about soon. For now, I’m just overjoyed to finally open this doorway and invite you in.

2027 bookings are now open for retreat hosts and for a limited number of family-and-friends stays.

A Clue Into the New Name of Our Healing Sanctuary...
Let me tell you! It's been hard not to just tell you all the new name of the healing sanctuary in Puerto Rico I am going to be stewarding. Later today, I'll officially announce on Patreon the new name and our new website!!!! Patreon members will be the FIRST to know the name and peep our new website. (It's free to join! If you join and decide to give, that's dollars to support our space and local island community of healers!)

In the meantime, if you still want to get in on the action and see if you can drop into the field and tune into the name or symbol that represents this space, you can still share in the comments what comes up for you.

So far, I have one person who has accurately tapped into the first half of the name. I have another Patreon member who has figured out that one part of the name has to do with an animal. (Yes, there are 2 words to this name.)

Dear Beloved Community,

I’m writing to you with a tender, open heart as My Reflection Matters continues to transform—and so do I.

This is not a rebrand.
This is a rebirth.

For nearly six years (actually more bc MRM was initially created back in 2016 before transitioning into MRMV), My Reflection Matters Village has been a homeplace for families and educators—especially those identifying as BIPOC—walking the path of unschooling, self-directed learning, and decolonized education. Together, we’ve cultivated a living, breathing village grounded in cultural affirmation, justice, and collective care.

But like all living things, evolution calls.

As for me—Chemay—I’ve been in deep listening. To my body. My spirit. The land. My ancestors. (This is why I've been so quiet in our Village community in recent months.) And what’s come through is this: I am being called to shed a public identity that no longer fits. The “brown unschooling mama” and “recovering DEI coach” identities carried me as far as they could. They were necessary in their season. But that season is closing.
I’m stepping fully into my next becoming: intuitive healer, ancestral guide, temple tender. This is the work that has always lived beneath the surface. Now, it comes forward to lead.
What’s shifting?

My Reflection Matters Village is moving away from being an online hub for unschooling resources, events, and DEI-related education. Instead, it will evolve into a quieter, more soul-aligned sanctuary—a space devoted to ancestral healing, intuition reconnection, and land-based ritual.

I will no longer be hosting a calendar of guest facilitators or educational events. The village will no longer be centered on unschooling content. I will not be managing a virtual community in the same way I once did. Instead, I will:

Offer 1:1 intuitive readings, with written reflections and custom visual affirmation cards

Share monthly collective readings to attune to community energy

Write and release reflections on my own healing and spiritual path

Co-host seasonal, land-based healing retreats with other intuitive practitioners and healers

Create offerings to support others in reconnecting with their intuitive gifts

This transformation will take time.
Over the next month or so, I’ll be clearing out and reweaving both the Mighty Networks platform and our Patreon space to reflect these new directions. This includes making decisions around where all of our recordings and other content will be housed for easy access. There may be quiet spells—and then soft sprouting.
What I’m asking of you:

I’m inviting you, if you are able, to continue supporting our Patreon during this transitional time. Your contribution helps me sustain my family while I continue to labor behind the scenes this divine (re)birth that is happening in real time, maintain our virtual sanctuary, and support mutual aid efforts within our community.

Eight decades later, Opal Lee decided it was time to remember.
She returned to the place where, at just 12 years old, a mob of 500 people tore down her family’s home to drive them out of a white neighborhood. Her act was not one of bitterness, but of courage—to face the memory and transform its energy through remembrance.

This video appeared on my feed today, right after finishing a beautiful reading with someone I hold dear. She came to me feeling blocked—disconnected from her full sense of wholeness. Her question was one we all meet at some point: How do I discern between my personal preferences and the actions aligned with my soul’s deeper calling?

As we moved through the reading, a message unfolded clearly:
To release the block, she would need to go back and be with the moments that first brought discomfort. The energy of pain is, by nature, painful. That’s why most of us turn away from it. We’ve been conditioned to believe that emotions like guilt, shame, or grief are “bad.” So the mind hides them. But the body—our most honest witness—always remembers.

All energy, whether we label it good or bad, seeks acknowledgment. Every feeling serves a purpose. When we refuse to see or metabolize it, that energy doesn’t disappear; it reappears in the body as tension, pain, or illness. That was true for my friend.

My takeaway today: allow yourself to see and name the parts of you that hurt, and the events that created them. Face them with compassion. Sit with the discomfort. Then thank those energies for what they were trying to do—protect you, teach you, guide you. Finally, release them. Tell them their mission is complete, and give them permission to return to light.

Opal Lee's decision to revisit a site filled with pain was not just remembrance—it was alchemy. She transformed the energy of that terrifying event into healing, both personal and collective.

What a gift she—and my friend—have offered the world today.

This event is for anyone interested in self-directed learning and living. The Shift offers participants the opportunity to examine the core beliefs and practices required to shift out of control and fear-based learning into relationship centered education and parenting.

We're living through a global implosion—not a metaphor, but a tangible unraveling of systems, illusions, and energetic coherence.

This is not the time to escalate anger, feed fear, or collapse into survival mode. This is the time to pause. To ground. To listen deeply. The world doesn’t need more reaction. It needs calibrated, intuitive-informed action.

The era of reactionary activism is over. What’s being asked of us now is far more powerful: to reclaim our inner alignment, harmonize as a collective, and respond from coherence—not chaos.

This is exactly why the vision of My Reflection Matters Village exists. Our healing and liberation center isn’t just timely—it’s essential.

We’ve got less than a month to return the Village home to Boriké.
This is not a moment for hesitation.
It’s a moment to move.
