A distinctive traditional Filipino blade from Mindanao, the Pira Cotabato developed as a regional variation of the Pira and was valued not only as a practical agricultural tool, but also as a formidable fighting weapon.

In this video, I put the Pira through some shadow boxing to demonstrate the movement and character of this unique blade and of course, to show off the beauty of it.

In this Filipino Kuntao style, the techniques from all different scenarios with and without weapons is practiced and then memorized. Then drilled and of course live play with resistance is done to ensure a student knows and understands how it works perfectly.

A reminder that our 5:30 to 6:55 class for women only self-defense is tonight. This is going to be a very good class. I recommend all women do this. It's only once a week.
