Mrs. Smith's Physics students are comparing the velocity at which an object SHOULD fall (get this using straight math--neglects air resistance) and the velocity at which it ACTUALLY falls (lab data and calculations, air resistance is a factor). What an engaging lesson!

🏦💰 Real-World Learning in the Lab!

Loan Officer Tiffany Reed and Community Bank President Tyler HIll recently stopped by the STEM lab to see how students are using the items donated by BankFirst and to observe some of the great things they are learning.

The visit even turned into a spontaneous mini-lesson about money! Students learned what money is made of, the differences between coins and paper currency, and how math is used in everyday purchases. We talked through examples like buying a candy bar and figuring out how much change you should receive. 🍫💵

It was a great opportunity to connect classroom learning with real-life financial skills!

And this was just a preview! The representatives plan to return later this fall to spend more time with the students and teach additional lessons.

We appreciate our community partners who not only invest in our classrooms but also take the time to invest in our students and their learning! 💙
