POSSIBLE WATER SERVICE INTERRUPTIONS FOR PARTS OF THE VILLAGE OF WATAGA

Residents in the areas of Sparta, Nation, Willard, Main, Depot, Victoria, Prairie and Burch Streets COULD POSSIBLY experience temporary water service interruptions beginning the week of Monday September 15, 2014.

Contractor will be arriving to replace a line on Depot Street and repair a line on Sparta Street.

Residents in these areas are advised to prepare for the possible interruptions by drawing water in advance for use in flushing toilets and doing dishes.

BOIL ORDER UPDATE

The boil order continues. The Village is doing everything possible to get it lifted. Chlorinating and pumping many gallons of water is one way to help rid the well of the problem. This takes time. Testing is done regularly to determine how it is progressing.

The water that arrives to each home is free of the contaminant; the chlorine in the distribution system kills it. AGAIN, the IEPA will not allow the Village to lift the boil order until it is no longer present in the well.

The water is safe to bathe in, wash dishes and laundry. If it were not, the IEPA would notify that is was unsafe.

BOIL ORDER UPDATE
The *well rehab* contractor is on-site today. Once the treatment is complete, samples will be taken for testing. Most likely this will occur on Thursday and Friday.

As previously stated, the IEPA issues the rules the Village must follow for the safety of consumers.

What is in the water is a common occurrence in water; if consumed it may cause gastrointestinal issues. The water is safe to drink if boiled and fine to use for showering and bathing, if it were not, the IEPA would advise not to use it for ANYTHING and they have not.

We are just as anxious to have the boil order lifted as the residents.

BOIL ORDER UPDATE

Test results are back from the lab and the culprit has been identified. The Village has hired a *well rehab* service that will be here next week to *treat* the well to eliminate this culprit causing the samples to fail.

BOIL ORDER UPDATE

For anyone not aware of what caused the boil order to be issued, the well pump failed and had to be replaced. When this happens, it is normal for *stuff* to get stirred up and it takes a while for it to settle out and calm down. The IEPA has been involved since the pump went down and have been issuing the orders the Village must follow for the consumer's safety and get the boil order lifted.

The IEPA has advised the Water Dept to take a water sample to a lab in Peoria for testing to identity exactly what is causing the samples to repeatedly fail. A sample was taken in yesterday. The test being conducted takes 7 days. Once the test results come back, the IEPA will determine if it is just a nuisance thing and then possibly they will allow the boil order to be lifted.

Again, we apologize for the inconvenience and appreciate your patience.The Village is doing every thing possible to get the boil order lifted. Once the test results are in, another update will be posted here.

Water service termination for any unpaid or partially paid bills will be Monday August 25, 2014. Terminations will begin at approximately 9 am. NO EXCEPTIONS WILL BE MADE.

Shut off list will be generated by 9 am and once the Village Employees leave the building to do shut offs, any customer on that list is considered shut off and the $50 reinstatement fees will apply.

The drop box will be CLOSED at 7:30 am the 25th.

Village Residents, beginning today, Monday August 18, 2014, the sewer project on Sparta Street is now under way. Please avoid the Sparta/Prairie Street area. As the project progresses, Sparta Street, from Burch to Prairie, will also be involved and this area should be avoided. Drivers, if you can not avoid the areas of the project, please show the workers courtesy by keeping speed down and use extra caution. Thanks for your cooperation.

BOIL ORDER UPDATE:

The entire Village remains under a boil order. The Illinois EPA issues requirements that must be met for the consumer's safety.

We understand the huge inconvenience this creates, we appreciate your patience and understanding while the Water Department is doing everything thing possible to get the Village off the boil order.

As to how much longer until the order is lifted, we have no way of knowing. Once it is lifted, we will post notices, have it announced on the local radio stations and it will be posted here.
