🔧 Optional Open Lab This Friday – June 12 🔧

Need a little extra time to finish a project? Optional Open Lab is available this Friday (June 12) for students who started camp late or would like additional time to catch up on activities and projects.

Please remember:
• Friday Open Labs are completely optional.
• No new camp curriculum or content will be introduced during Open Lab.
• No van transportation is provided.
• No snacks are provided.

⏰ Open Lab Hours for June 12th: 9:00 AM–12:00 PM

Please note that supervision ends promptly at 12:00 PM. All students must be picked up and off campus by noon.

This Friday (June 5), Optional Open Lab for STEAM Summer Camps Session 1 will follow our regular camp schedule and is available for students who started late or need extra time to complete projects and activities.

☀️ AM CAMPS (9AM–12PM)

🦌Subsistence Camp: Grades 9-12
Subsistence Camp brings learning to life through field trips and hands-on outdoor experiences—from visiting the Alaska Native Heritage Center and local farms to hiking, crafting, and practicing cultural skills. Guided by Elder teachings, students explore what it means to live in balance with the land while building self-awareness, leadership, and respect for community. This .5 credit course empowers students to grow into capable, grounded stewards of our land.

🏋️‍♀️Fit Foundations: Grades 9-12
Fit Foundations challenges students to take ownership of their health through structured workouts, goal-setting, and real-world fitness planning. Students will build strength and endurance through resistance and cardio training, while also learning nutrition, recovery strategies, and how to design personalized fitness programs. This .5 credit course empowers students to develop lifelong habits, discipline, and confidence in both body and mind.

👾Built It! Hack It!: Grades 9-12
Built It! Hack It! introduces students to the world of cybersecurity through hands-on exploration of networks, ethical hacking, and digital defense. Students will set up accounts, analyze network traffic with tools like Wireshark, map system protocols, and research real-world cyber career paths—while also building their own PC. This .5 credit course empowers students to think critically, solve problems, and understand how to protect and navigate the digital world.

🌄Wild & Well - Abundant Living: Grades 6-12
Wild & Well: Abundant Living offers a slower, intentional pace where students reconnect with the land and themselves through yoga, mindfulness, journaling, and reflective outdoor experiences. Alongside gentle adventures like kayaking, hiking, foraging, and cooking, students build self-sufficiency while learning to slow down, observe, and find balance. This .5 credit course nurtures wellness, resilience, and a deep sense of connection to community and environment.

🛩️Plane Fun: Grades 6-12
Plane Fun launches students into the world of aviation through hands-on experiences like flight simulation, flying RC planes, and launching model rockets. Students explore the fundamentals of flight while gaining exposure to real aviation pathways and logging simulator hours. This .5 credit course fuels curiosity, problem-solving, and confidence as students take learning to the skies.

🪶Cultural STEAM: Grades 6-12
Cultural STEAM empowers students to bring historical knowledge and future innovation together by designing and creating with 3D modeling, 3D printers, laser engravers, and CNC machines. Students will build culturally inspired tools and projects while learning the engineering design process to think critically and solve real problems. This .5 credit course turns ideas into reality.

🛹Longboard Camp: Grades 7-12
Longboard Camp gives students the chance to design and build their own custom longboard from the ground up using hands-on woodworking and fabrication techniques. From shaping the deck to refining their design, students develop creativity, precision, and problem-solving skills. This .5 credit course blends craftsmanship and engineering into a project they can ride with pride.

🪡Beginner’s Sewing: Grades 9-12
Beginner’s Sewing invites students to learn the art of creating by building foundational skills in both machine and hand sewing through hands-on projects. Students will design and sew items like pillowcases, Quspaqs, and beaded crafts while developing skills in measurement, problem-solving, and creative expression. This .5 credit course blends culture, craftsmanship, and creativity—empowering students to make something meaningful with their own hands.

🩺Healthcare Heroes: Grades 9-12
Healthcare Heroes immerses students in real-world medical training—from taking vital signs and suturing to exploring human anatomy in 3D with the Anatomage table and earning CPR certification. Through hands-on practice, field trips, and even job shadowing at local clinics, students gain a true inside look at healthcare careers. This .5 credit course builds confidence, compassion, and the foundational skills to step into the world of healing.

👾E-Sports: Grades 8-12
E-Sports gives students the chance to compete, collaborate, and sharpen their skills across popular titles like League of Legends, Valorant, Rocket League, and Super Smash Bros. Through guided practice, strategy development, and team-based play, students build communication, leadership, and competitive discipline in a structured environment. This .5 credit course also serves as a pathway to the Benteh STEAM Esports team—opening doors to scholarships, recruiting opportunities, and future careers in STEM.

🚜Heavy Equipment: Grades 6-12
Heavy Equipment introduces students to real-world construction skills through hands-on training with industry-recognized CAT simulators and curriculum. Students will learn worksite safety, equipment operation basics, and the foundations needed for careers in construction and heavy industry. This .5 credit course builds confidence, responsibility, and a direct pathway into high-demand trades.

🚵Wild & Well - Wilderness Adventure Series: Grades 6-12
Wild & Well: Wilderness Adventure Series pushes students into higher-intensity outdoor experiences like mountain biking, kayaking, hiking, and foraging while building real skills in food prep, risk management, and self-sufficiency. Through fast-paced, hands-on exploration of the land, students strengthen their physical endurance, resilience, and connection to our environment. This .5 credit course is built for those ready to challenge themselves, grow their confidence, and embrace adventure head-on.

🎸Guitar Camp: Grades 7-12
Guitar Camp blends craftsmanship and creativity as students design, build, and customize their own electric guitar from the ground up. Through hands-on woodworking and fabrication, students learn precision, problem-solving, and the fundamentals of instrument design. This .5 credit course turns raw materials into music—igniting a passion to play, explore, and express themselves through sound.

Benteh STEAM Academy will be closed Monday, February 16, 2026, in observance of Elizabeth Peratrovich Day—honoring the power of voice, courage, and civic leadership.

There will be no STEAM activities, including Before & After School Programs, KCS courses, or homeschool courses.
