My House MY House is a homeless and at-risk youth drop in center located in Wasilla, Alaska. Our philosophy is to offer a hand up, not a hand out.

We provide job training, housing, meal assistance, transportation, mental health services, and more to youth between the ages of 14 and 25! We are a unique non-profit that operates several for-profit ventures that offer employment and training you youth age 16-24, with preference given to homeless youth, and the goal of offering financial support back to the organization to support operating costs and services. Youth coming for services are expected to work toward goals and make progress, accept help to remove barriers, and identify challenges personally that keep them from being successful. Our Gathering Grounds Café is open to the public from 6am-4pm, and trains baristas as well as bakers and sous chefs. The Café also offers a supper program for homeless youth from 3-4pm, hosted by community members who enjoy a meal with the youth. We use local and Alaskan made products whenever possible: Havemeister Dairy milk, Alaska Chip Company potato chips, Alaska Roastery coffee products, Summit Spice and Tea company tea, and a local supplier for Coke products. Behind the Café is a drop in center for homeless youth, with food, clothing, showers and laundry opportunities. Employment services are available on site through Nine Star, a partner provider who also helps with high school completion and GED programs. Another partner business offers car detailing, and employs additional youth. In summer months we also operate a Garden business, selling hanging flower baskets, potted flowers and vegetables to the public. Coming soon is a Steampunk themed thrift store specializing in teen clothing and employing and training more youth. Our case management services include a large referral network for off-site opportunities, Covenant House services for shelter, and caring and efficient staff in house who can assist with a variety of solutions for homeless youth. Our services include opportunities to recover identification, get a drivers license and obtain transportation to job interviews, counseling or evaluation, and legal appointments.

Thank you so much to everyone who joined us for the Walk for Recovery this year! We were so glad to have everyone with us for one of our most well attended events ever! We would like to thank the Mat-Su Health Foundation for helping us buy all of the free shirts we gave away, Big J's BBQ Catering for donating ALL OF THE BBQ for the event, Stewart Title Mat-Su Valley, Alaska for donating the prize for our co****le champions, Chop House - at Lake Lucille, National Alliance for Drug Endangered Children, and Alaska Massage Clinic - Wasilla for donating all of our door prizes. Thank you to True North Recovery, Set Free Alaska, Alaska Addiction Rehabilitation Services, Inc., Job Corps, KHITZ 107.1 "Your Valley, Your Music, Your Station." and everyone else who helped us set up vendor tables and booths at the end of the walk and brought their staff and clients to participate. Finally, a huge thank you to everyone who supported our recovery community with their smiles, waves, and honks as they went by today. Here in the Mat-Su we RECOVER OUT LOUD and know that Recovery is Possible. We can't wait to see you again next year!

After we are done walking from the Target Parking lot to MY House tomorrow, hang out with us at the MY House drop-in center (300 North Willow Street) from 1PM to 4PM
for games, speakers, and FREE BBQ, thanks to our amazing partners Big J's BBQ! We will also have FREE copies of Brad Aleander and Oswald Keener's recovery children's books "Behind the Mask of Ramon Raccoon," and "Sam Sea Lion Went Solo" while supplies last. Rain or shine, we can't wait to show how our recovery community recovers OUT LOUD and that "Recovery is Paw-sible."

IT'S FEEL GOOD FRIDAY!!

There’s a lot to feel good about today, because tomorrow, WE WALK TOGETHER!

September is Recovery Month, and tomorrow our community will come together for the 5th Annual Walk for Recovery to celebrate recovery, recognize the journey, and remind one another that no one has to walk it alone.

Whether recovery is part of your own story, you’re walking for someone you love, or you simply want to show your support for the recovery community here in the Mat-Su, we hope you’ll join us.

We’ll meet at 12 in the Target parking lot and walk together to the MY House Youth Drop-In Center, where a BBQ will be waiting at the finish line.

Gathering Grounds Cafe and Redemption Apparel & Thrift Boutique will also be open from 11 AM–4 PM, so stick around, grab something from the café, shop the boutique, and spend some time with us.

Tomorrow is about recovery, community, and showing up for one another.

Supper Club is about so much more than a meal.

Every week, volunteers and community members show up for our youth by providing meals, giving their time, and reminding them that they have a community behind them.

To every person, family, business, and organization that has cooked, donated, served, or sat down at the table with our youth, thank you. Your generosity makes a real difference.

A warm meal may seem like a simple thing, but the consistency, connection, and care that come with it mean so much more.

MORE THAN A RIDE

Getting somewhere seems simple when you have a vehicle, gas money, and a driver’s license.

For some of the youth we serve, transportation can be one more barrier between where they are and where they’re trying to go.

A ride can mean making it to a job interview. Getting to work on time. Making an appointment. Getting important paperwork taken care of. Or simply being able to access the resources they need.

At MY House, we work alongside our youth to help remove those everyday barriers because moving forward is a lot harder when you can’t physically get where you need to be.

Sometimes it really is more than a ride. It’s access to opportunity.

3 DAYS TO GO!
This Saturday, we walk together.

The 5th Annual Walk for Recovery is almost here, and we’re inviting our entire community to come out and join us as we celebrate recovery, connection, and the people who remind us every day that change is possible.

We’ll kick things off at the Target parking lot and walk together to the MY House Youth Drop-In Center, where food, fellowship, and fun will be waiting at the finish.
And stick around after the walk! Gathering Grounds Café and Redemption Apparel & Thrift Boutique will both be open, so grab something to eat or drink, do a little shopping, and spend some time with us.

Whether you’re in recovery, supporting someone who is, or simply want to stand with the recovery community here in the Mat-Su, this walk is for you.

September is Recovery Month, and this Saturday is our chance to show just how strong the recovery community is when we show up together.

We’re excited to share that MY House has been selected as one of the Mat-Su organizations in the running to receive a $10,000 donation through Alaska Premier Dental Group’s Smiles for Life campaign!

Now we need our community’s help.

Voting is open September through October, and every vote helps give MY House the opportunity to receive $10,000 to continue supporting youth and young adults right here in the Mat-Su.
