Hello AMC Families- Do you wonder what has been happening in middle school social studies? Mr. DeBoer’s students worked on making pyramids modeled after their study of ancient Egypt and practiced math, measuring, and teamwork. Project-based & place-based (bringing the world into the classroom) education are included in AMC’s educational program and are powerful ways to engage students in their education. American Charter is finishing the second week of the school year! Mrs. Voigt’s class has started the year with August curiosity: dragonflies and slugs have been fascinating and the students spotted forms of erosion on our playground! Also, Running Club had their first practice Tuesday on a rainy, wet afternoon; however, students didn’t seem to mind;) I’m always impressed with student learning & engagement at AMC. AMC Middle School Students enjoyed a team building field trip to Willow Creek Tuesday & Wednesday! They fished for silver salmon,learned fire building skills, set up tents, and did a scavenger hunt. The end of the school year rapidly drew to a close with many activities; Field Day, Primary Prep Field Trip to the Reindeer Farm, the World Renewable Energy Competition in Madison Wisconsin. and the 4th Quarter Assembly were a few events in May. Congratulations to AMC’s Running Club students! Thirteen 4th & 5th grade students competed in the district track meet Saturday with all students doing amazing and Birdie Maixner earning 1st place in the 5th grade girls 1600 meter run! Thank you, Mrs. Yerbich for supervising Running Club year after year and thank you to AMC staff who have helped throughout the season. Thank you, Mrs. Kotyk, Mrs. Skiff, Mrs. Johnson, and Mr. and Mrs. Andrews for helping at the meet Saturday. Mrs. Yerbich said the day was long and cold, but no one complained; what a testament to the American Charter ethos. Thank you, AMC Families for supporting AMC programs. Way to go AMC! ❤️🤍💙🦅🦅🦅
