Iditarod & Larson Families

Please remember that the bus driver strike is still in effect as of Monday March 16th. We still are providing care before and after school, (excluding late start Mondays) but there will be no buses to and from the center.

Rising Star Larson & Iditarod Families:

We do expect the bus drivers to strike Monday March 2nd. This will leave us without bus service from our center to those schools.

At this time we have been able to make a staffing plan to transport those students Monday afternoon through Thursday afternoon (March 2nd-March 5th). This will give us a reprieve to get through until spring break.

We will revisit this and update you prior to school restarting on March 16th. At this time we may not have the staffing to continue van service if the strike is still on going, so we urge you to have a backup plan in place for after spring break.

Rising Star Families:

It has come to my attention that we have some parents or approved pick ups speeding down the side of our building in an attempt to bypass the buses that stop on Blind Nick. This is extremely dangerous and we cannot allow it.

The driveway on the side of the building is for our center vans only. We use this area for the school children getting on and off the van or those getting picked up and dropped off by the buses. It is not a shortcut for any other vehicles.

If we see you using this area, you will only receive one written safety warning. Our parking lot has 2 entrances and exits that are accessible for parents and approved family members, one on Wampam and one on Blind Nick. When buses are present, either on the road or in our parking lot we expect everyone to use the proper safety protocols.

Due to MSBSD school closure we will not be running our preschool program today Friday January 16th.

Due to icy road conditions, Regions 1–6 are closed today, Friday, January 16, 2026.
This closure applies to all MSBSD schools except Region 7, Glacier View, which remains open.

Elementary and middle school activities are canceled. Updates on high school after-school activities will be shared by noon today.

Due to the MSBSD weather delay, Rising Star will not be running our preschool program today.

MSBSD Regions 1–5 will operate on a 2-hour delay today, January 15, 2026, due to current and forecasted road conditions. Morning Pre-K classes are canceled in Regions 1–5.

MSBSD Regions 6 and 7 are operating on a normal schedule.

You may have noticed a new edition by the front door. The Rising Star Farmstand was born from parents and staff wanting homemade options with simple ingredients! Please stop by and check it out. Grab some bread for dinner or some caramels to treat your office! ❤️

We are on the honor system and each item has a price & Venmo code. If you prefer cash you may drop it off at the front office until our cashbox arrives. Willow & James Sourdough will be helping maintain the stand and updating with new items on their page so please give them a follow! We hope you like some of these options and requests are always welcome!

Good Evening Rising Star Families!

We hope everyone is warm and safe tonight. The wind is still ripping and MSBSD has canceled school again tomorrow. So we will be running tomorrow the same as today. No preschool classes but childcare will be open for those that need it.

We do have some staff members dealing with storm related issues of their own so please let us know if your child will be attending so we can make a staffing plan for the day. We did have some significant power surges and today, so if you do decide to utilize care please have a plan in case we lose power.

If things deteriorate overnight I will post an update in the morning.

Good Evening Families!

As of now, 7 PM Sunday we have power and we plan to be open tomorrow normal hours. Please make sure to have a backup plan in case we do lose power tomorrow or at anytime I feel it is unsafe to open.

That being said if you have the availability to keep your children home tomorrow or with family we would appreciate it. We will be short staffed and would like to keep spots open for any families who do not have that availability.

For any family that does use care tomorrow please make sure the front office has up to date emergency contacts in case we lose power mid day.
